Chapter Sixteen: A Very Happy Halloween

Since Hiccup had to catch up on all of his school work and couldn't really go anywhere because he was still weak from being struck and his metal leg could fall off at any time, they got to stay in the Common Room with him and help him. Hiccup was a fast learner, and before they had lunch, Hiccup was done with everything, so they got to work on their Halloween ball costumes.

"Hey, guys, why don't we go to the ball mascaraded?" Astrid asked.

"You can, Astrid, but I'm going as a lost princess." Rap sighed at the thought. Jack, Hiccup, and Astrid didn't know what they were going to do for their costumes yet. Then Jack had a great idea. He whispered to Rap "We can get Astrid and Hiccup to dress up as a Viking Princess and Prince."

"Let's talk about it in your dorm." Rap whispered back.

"All right, so we are going to trick Hiccup and Astrid?" She asked.

"Yep." Jack replied.

"Good. 'Cause I've got a plan." She went upstairs and pulled out two outfits that she'd made. She'd been ready for this for a long time. She laid one on her bed and took the other one- which was Hiccup's-, to Jack. Rap got Astrid into the girls' dorm and was able to give her a bit of sleeping draught, that way she wouldn't know what was going on. Jack did the same to Hiccup. Rap looked at the emerald-gold dress that she had made, then at Astrid and knew that she would have to add a few Viking things to it before Astrid would wear it. Hiccup would just go with the flow, she knew, and wear his outfit. Rap took Astrid's skull belt and spiked shoulder pads and fit them on the dress. She sewed them on lightly, that way they could be taken off later. Then she looked at the shoes she'd made. She knew that Astrid was not going to want to wear those heels without some type of Viking related thing on it. Then she saw the perfect thing. On Astrid's boots were a row of spikes. She pulled them off and put them on the heels. Now it was perfect.

Jack didn't really have to make any changes to the outfit Rap had given him for Hiccup. He did one thing and that was adding spikes onto Hiccup's boot. Then Hiccup woke up and saw everything.

"Let me guess. You and Rap have our costumes planned and my costume is sitting on your bed." Hiccup said as he looked around the room.

"Yep." Jack said.

"Then there's no getting out of the fact that I have to put this on, right?"

"Yep." Jack said again. So Hiccup tried on the costume and then laid it on his bed for later.

"Astrid! Wake up." Rap said, shaking Astrid's shoulder. Astrid woke up, looked around the room, saw the look on Rap's face, and knew there was no getting out of this. She tried on her costume and set it away for later. They met the boys in the Common Room and they talked about what Halloween would be like. Though Jack had watched Halloween many times, none of them had ever experienced it, so tonight they were all dong something new.
