Chapter Seventeen: The Halloween Ball

A few minutes before they went to dinner, Rap pulled out Jack's costume. He was going as the Snow King. All of the older kids were beginning to rush in to drop off their stuff before going to dinner. As soon the older kids came, Jack, Rap, Astrid, and Hiccup headed down to the Great Hall themselves. This way, they beat out the crowd and got the best seats. Once everyone was there, Professor Potter stood up.

"All right everyone. I have news about the Halloween Ball. There will be a costume competition. There are four categories, scariest, best, funniest, and best matching costumes. You cannot vote for yourself. That is all." The students returned to talking and some of them went to the dorms to put their costumes on. Rap and Jack had a surprise. They knew how much Hiccup and Astrid loved their dragons and how much they missed them. They had talked to Professor Potter and Professor Malfoy about Stormfly and Toothless could come in as they finished eating and they had said yes. Sure enough, as they finished eating, the doors creaked open seemly by themselves and Toothless and Stormfly bounded in. Many of the students began screaming, but Hiccup, who had looked up as soon as he heard screaming, saw Toothless and nudged Astrid, then jumped up and ran to Toothless as the Gryffindor Quidditch Team screamed, "Hiccup, no! You'll be killed!"

"Toothless!" Hiccup embraced his friend.

"Wait, did Hiccup just say Tooth-" Astrid jumped up without finishing her sentence and ran to Stormfly.

"Stormfly!" Astrid hugged her, as much as you can hug a dragon, anyway. After a few minutes, they returned to their seats with Toothless and Stormfly following behind them. Hiccup turned to them and motioned with his hand and they sat down on the floor. After everyone was done eating, the tables folded themselves and were placed against the wall so people could dance. People had seen Hiccup and Astrid's costumes when they ran to Toothless and Stormfly, and they went up to vote for them. Hiccup and Astrid were now dancing with Toothless and Stormfly following them.

Suddenly the room went black and everyone but Jack, Rap, Hiccup, Astrid, Toothless and Stormfly fainted.

"Oh no. Pitch is back, and if he can make the whole school but us faint, then he's stronger than last time." Jack whispered.
