Lukas's POV.
My heart was beating do fast that it felt like it was about to break my rib cage and jump out of my chest. I wanted to run away as fast as I could, I do desperately wished to swoosh through the forest, to run and run and run and never stop until I manage to leave these stupid insults behind me. This place, this whole city was rotten to the core, and there was no place for such a person like me.
So I ran. My legs carried me through the dark forest, they helped me move even faster and faster, until the only thing I could hear was my own hearbeat and those words that echoed through my scull, making me want to scream, to cry, to plead.
"Freak!"
I jumped over a fallen tree.
"Weird!"
I turned right, not bothering to stop even for a moment.
"Sick!"
I tried to keep my breathing shallow.
"Lukie's mum took his arm!"
I yelled as my foot twisted under my weight and I fell on the ground with a loud crush. My hair tangled in some bushes, and my hand got scratched more, than a billion times.
- Damn it! - I cried, trying to break free from the bushes, hot tears running down my hot face and making their way inside my mouth. I grabbed one of the branches, but instantly let go and cried out as thousands of sharp needles pierced through my fragile skin, blood slowly dripping out of the fresh wounds.Swearing silently, I managed to get on my feet, although I was pretty sure there were some leafs in my hair. It was hard for me to regain balance, and I had to grab a nearby tree to help me get up on my feet.
I hated it. Every second I spent in this world, every moment people were staring at me with pity and sorrow in their eyes. I was alright! I didn't need their pity!
Wiping my tears away, I continued my walk throu the forest. It was someplace new, and I was rather sure I had never been here before. The trees were covering the sky so I had to wander around in darkness, barely seeing something a few feet in front of my nose. There was something I couldn't quiet grasp in all this place. There was something magical in every plant and every stone. I came across a wide river and was walking along it, looking at the way it was shimmering in those few rays of sunlight that managed to fight their way through the crowns of the trees.
- There's music in the river... - I hummed a song. - And there's music in the vale... And all around the music fills the sky... There's music in the tree-what the?!I stopped in a hult as my eyes fell on a lifeless body. It seemed to be a young male, his skin rather tanned and his very long black hair a mess. He was laying there, not wearing any shirt and not giving any signs of life, and chills ran down my spine.
- Hey! - I cried, running to the boy and desperately checking his pulse. - Hey, man, wake up!No pulse. No responce.
- Hell, hell, hell! - I yelled, looking around, in case there was anything that could help me. Yet there was nothing. - Don't you die on me now...
I swiftly looked at the guy, checking for any injures or something that would explain his condition. My eyes travelled down his stomach, I should've probably stopped examining him because he didn't seem to wear anything. But I instinctively glanced below his navel, already blushing a little...Tail.
My eyes widened as I checked twice and trice, my mind refused believe what I saw. Where were supposed to be the bottom part of the man's body, there was a long fish-like tail. It was dirty and really dry, colour of mint. I carefully touched it, afraid that it might be fake - but no, it was a real tail, that could belong to a huge fish.
