Another Lukesse oneshot requested by MarineGallais
Lukas sighed as he sat down on an empty tree trunk, looking at the jungle around him in marvel. This was amazing. Living in Champion City, he had never been able to enjoy the nature as much as he wanted to, which was honestly a shame. He liked nature, he liked wild.
That was one of the things that set him aside from other people who were living in that city. They hated being outside. Locked up in their houses or walking uo and down the streets like mindless zombies, they got scared if one spider accidentally crawled within the walls.
The blondie huffed at the memory of three squads of guards, all armed with enchanted diamond swords and shields, trying to take the spider down. Too good it was a baby and all it wanted was to play a bit, not hurt anybody. They couldn't even touch it, more scared of it as it should've been if them.
Side note, the spider went back to its family as soon as the sun rose.
Lukas unzipped his backpack and took out some sandwitches wrapped in silver foil. Usually he would've tried to make it look good, but since it was the only place that Stella, the tyranical leader of Champion City, couldn't control, the foil was as crumpled as it could possibly be.
With a delighted sigh, he unwrapped the foil and took out one of the two beef sandwiches, biting into it with unknown hunger. Walking through the forest for so long probably does it to a human. He wouldn't know, it was the first time he had been outside of the walls of the City. There were way too many supersticions about the dangers of the outside world.
He had read in some historical books that it hadn't always been that way. Long, long time ago people lived in harmony with nature, not at war with it. They built houses themselves, they could go wherever they wanted to go. And at nights they could fight hundreds of dangerous monsters, armed with a sword only. Shields were for the losers, shields were for the weak.
But even the weakest of people then were much stronger than an average person these days. Today every human being preferred safety of the towns to thrill and dangers of the outside world. Human locked themselves up, they built a cage for themselves and threw the key away. No more free walks under the huge trees, no more trying to cross the ocean on a single boat.
People evolved.
Lukas frowned, remembering how many tests and vaccinations he'd had to go through before leaving the walls for one day. Nobody wanted him to get some infection that people didn't know how to cute-sorry, that they had forgotten how to cure. You see, potions of regeneration weren't enough anymore. Now there were potions for fifteen types of cold and thirty types of the flu. And what was the difference between those potions? Brand. Nothing more.
Why couldn't people live the way they used to? Why couldn't they go on amazing adventures anymore, why couldn't they spend nights and days working in a mine only to feel the exhilliration of finding a diamond? Now there were mechanisms for that, and humans weren't needed.
Lukas sighed sadly one more time, putting the ball of foil aside and biting into the other sandwich. It was good and all, but he was wondering what would it feel like to eat the sandwich you had made yourself, from the bread you had made yourself and the beef you had collected yourself. Not this thing everyone could buy in a shop.
There were so many beautiful things around him that the man couldn't help chuckling slightly. Wow. So many colours and sounds, so many flowers and trees around him! A little butterfly flied above him, and the blondie caught himself staring at it in awe.
