Petra brushed her fingers through her curly hair, taking a deep breath to calm her rapid heartbeat down. It was nothing. It wasn't that much of a deal to get so worked up about it. Just... Go on an do it! Nothing to be scared of!

Still, she couldn't bring herself to knock on the door. She wanted nothing more than to rush in, to see her best friend again and to hug her as tightly as she could, but something was stopping her. Like an invisible wall grew up from the ground to block the door, to push the redhead away, and fighting with that wall was much harder than fighting with a horde of zombies or a pack of wild wolves.

"C'mon, c'mon, come on..." She mumbled to herself, pacing around in front of the door, forcing her lungs to breathe heavily and steadily. No time for worries. No reason for worries! She was just going to ask Jesse out for a walk, it couldn't have been that hard! Besides, what's the last time they had seen one another?

Petra closed her eyes and gave up full control over her body. Her hand rose in the air and froze there, not able to make contact with the wooden door. What if Jesse wasn't in there? What if she still hadn't come back? Or-or what if something truly horrible happened and she wouldn't come back ever again and-

No no no. The redhead shook her head sternly at those thoughts. She had to believe in good, she had to trust the doctors! If they said that Jesse was okay, it meant she was okay.

That thought had so much determination in it that Petra even knocked on the door. The silent sound echoed inside the house and she shivered, not for the first time wanting to just go away and never come back again. However the other - brighter - part of her didn't even wish to hear about leaving.

No reply came. The redhead gulped and knocked again, this time louder. For a few seconds nothing was happenning, and thousands of horrible pictures flashed in front of the woman's eyes, all of them containing Jesse. Dead Jesse.

And then the door creaked open, and her tired face stared at Petra in dissatisfaction.

"Hi." Jesse grumbled while the redhead was doing her best to find all the words that had somehow escaped both her tongue and her mind. "Sorry for not replying, I was just taking shower."

Her hair were wrapped in a big, fluffy towel, and her skin had heat radiating from it. Petra sighed in relief as her urge to run away dissapeared the moment Jesse's chocolate eyes looked at her.

"Yeah, I'm sorry too." She rubbed the back of her neck, looking away. Damn. What if Jesse hadn't wanted her to come?! "I-I just got worried about you and wanted to come and check on you, but if now isn't the good time I'll-"

"No, no, come on in!" Jesse smiled a little and opened the door wider. Her clothes that she had hurriedly put on were clean and ironed well, and that sight made a smile appear on the face of the redhead. Her friend was taking care of herself. That was good. That was just amazing!

She slipped in the dark room and frowned, seing the heavy and thick curtains that blocked the daylight. Then glanced at Jesse from above her shoulder, but the brunette was already fiddling with something in the kitchen. Petra narrowed her eyes, but soon realised that her friend was just making some coffee, nothing dangerous.

"So..." She grunted as she pulled the curtains to the side of the window and allowed the light to shine in the room. "How, uh... How did everything go?"

It was something she didn't really want to talk about, and she had a very strong feeling that neither did Jesse. However, it was the very thing they had to discuss, there was no way out of this.
