I don't know what to do besides sit in my car staring out the window.
I try turning the key in my ignition again but it just starts then shuts down again. Perfect fucking timing for my perfectly fine car to become a piece of shit.
I hit my palms against the steering wheel right as the front door flies open, and Niall's girlfriend runs outside in a hurry. She isn't moving fast though, her high heels delay her. I almost expect her to come to the side of my car and talk to me, but she just gets inside her own vehicle and pulls out of the driveway. I guess Niall pissed her off too.
I check the time on my phone, maybe I'll just call someone to pick me up. I'd have to get a tow truck or something too, my car's never broke down before like this. I think I remember Niall telling me once that one of the guys he lives with worked at an auto shop before he came to college, but I can't be absolutely certain.
I guess the only way to see would be to ask. But I don't want them to see that I've been crying and how pathetic I must be to storm out and not even be able to leave. I wipe my eyes once more and get out of my car, walking to the door one last time.
I knock a pathetic and quiet little knock, but the door opens very quickly as if someone was waiting around for a visiter.
"Oh, Leah?" The same shirtless boy looks confused to see me. I sniff away the hurt I'm feeling. "Are any of you good with cars?" I ask so pathetically. He looks behind him and into the house.
"Jackson is but he's-" He bites his lip. "busy." He finishes. If I can read a person well enough, he is either lying or covering for something. The house for the most part seems empty of people behind him. It was just filled with people seconds ago.
"Are you broke down or something?" He peeks out the door and looks for my car. "Yeah, it won't start." I laugh shortly at my own expense. "Figures, huh?"
"I'll get Jackson, just uh, wait here." He says and shuts the door again. I cross my arms and wait there on the porch as instructed.
It feels like it takes them ten minutes before they finally come back out. He is joined by Jackson, I assume. Jackson has scratches all over his forearms and bloody knuckles.
"What happened to you?" I ask, looking at his injuries.
"Nothing, I'm fine." He wipes down his left arm and a small amount of blood smears and then falls from his fingertips to the ground. When I look up from there, I see his face and notice a small amount of bruising coming out under his eye.
"Which car is yours, I'll go see if I can do anything." I point to my car and the two boys both go out to look at it. I stand awkwardly on the porch for a few seconds before staring at the little spots of blood now staining the concrete. I see if either boys are watching me and I move to the door. When I try to open it, though, it is locked. I let out a groan of annoyance.
I step off the porch and move to the back of the house, and I'm lucky the boys never turn around from my engine. Every house has a back door, right?
A locked back door but a cracked open window is okay with me.
I raise the glass and slip a foot in until it hits ground, then slip the other through and I'm inside.
"That's called breaking and entering." Someone says from inside. It's coming from the kitchen, the room I'm right next to. I look inside and Niall sits on the counter, holding an ice pack to his eye, shirtless.
"I'm allowed in here." Is all I say before turning my back to him.
"What happened to your eye?" I call over my shoulder.
