"You what?" you gawked. "This has to be a prank. Somebody better jump out of my closet and tell me that this is all a game,"

Michael stared at you, saying nothing. You were scared, but you tried your best not to show those emotions.

"I know that you're a little scared," he cleared his throat. "But I'm not going to hurt you,"

Your throat was dry, and you were speechless. Your hands were cold, and your legs were shaking.

"Can I....touch you?" you questioned softly, a tad bit hesitant.

Michael nodded, making you relax a little. You got up from the bed slowly, and walked up to the man - placing your hand on his shoulder. He was solid.

"You're....real..." you trailed off.

"Almost real," he corrected you as you took your hand away from his shoulder.

"Can...other people see you?" you prodded.

"No," he grimaced a little. "Only you can see me. After all, I am here for you,"

You couldn't believe what you were hearing, nor could you believe what you were seeing.

"Listen," he began. "I'm going to be with you, every step of the way. I want to guide, and protect you," he breathed.

"I don't...believe this," you shook your head. "This has to be a dream,"

"Oh, (Y/N), I can assure you that this isn't a dream at all,"

You walked along the corridors, Michael by your side. Since the other students couldn't see him, you sometimes sounded as if you were talking to yourself. Of course, people made fun of you - but you tried not to focus on them. You already had enough on your plate.

"This place is nice," Michael remarked.

"Yeah, so are the tuition fees," you scoffed. "This place is so expensive, I almost wish I wasn't here anymore,"

"Ouch," he chuckled a little before you bumped into a tall, male figure.

Your books had fallen to the floor, making you groan slightly. As you bent down, you noticed that the man did too. He had light brown hair, and green eyes. He was tall, and handsome.

"Sorry about that," he laughed a little as he helped you pick up your books. "I'm Ethan," he smiled as the two of you straightened up. He handed your items to you - making you blush slightly. He was handsome.

"I'm (Y/N)," you responded.

"Now, keep going," Michael pushed you a little.

You groaned and flashed Ethan an apologetic smile.

"I've gotta go, I have classes," you bit your lip. "It was nice meeting you,"

Ethan continued to stare at you as you rushed along. Of course, he couldn't see Michael.

"Did you have to do that?" you whispered, keeping your head down.

"Yes, I don't like Ethan," Michael walked beside you with folded arms.

"Are you serious?" you questioned. Several students heard you, and they frowned deeply. When you saw this, you laughed awkwardly. "You know," you waved your hand nonchalantly. "Just...talking to myself,"

The students went back to what they were doing, making you let out a sigh of relief.

"Yes, I am serious," Michael answered. "I'm here to protect you,"

"Ethan wasn't dangerous, he was sweet,"

"That's what you think," he retorted. "Next thing you know, he's got you tied up in his basement - ready to kill you,"

You stopped in your tracks, giving Michael a look. Two students, who were walking by, noticed this and stared at you.

"Sorry," you grinned at them before continuing to walk. "Great, now everyone thinks I'm crazy," you rolled your eyes.

"(Y/N)," Michael took your hand and pulled you into the janitor's closet. He shut the door and locked it before turning around to face you. "I'm here to protect you. If there's a person I don't like seeing around you, I will intervene. I've been through the worst, (Y/N) - I know how cruel life can be, and I don't want you to suffer the way that I did,"

"But you were different!" you exclaimed. "You were a pop star! Michael, I'm just a student - I can manage!"

"A student who's homesick," he raised an eyebrow. "So much for managing,"

"Listen, I'm going to class. If you want, you can tag along - but I am not going to talk to you in public," you sighed. "People already think that I've lost my mind,"

With that, you walked past Michael and opened the door - leaving.

*****
Michael.

I watched as (Y/N) walked out of the janitor's closet. She was beautiful, and she was smart. She was perfect. I adored the way she spoke, the way she smiled, and the way that she held herself.

I knew that she was scared, initially - but she would eventually get used to the idea of having me around. I loved her, and I wanted her to be safe.

I was going to protect her, no matter what.
