✽SET IN THE HISTORY ERA✽
|1997|
You were seated on the large bed, in the bedroom. The time was eleven in the morning, and it was raining heavily outside. You were reading a novel, trying to distract yourself from the emptiness that threatened to envelope you. Sheets of rain falling onto the roof was the most distinct sound.
You were feeling quite lonely because your husband of eight years, Michael Jackson, was on his HIStory World Tour. Being the King of Pop meant that he had to go on various tours just to promote his albums, and entertain the crowds. You missed him a great deal whenever he was gone, and you wanted to be with him. However, he was very much against the idea of having you with him, mainly because you were three months pregnant - and he did not want to put you under stress, something that constant travelling would do.
And so you were left at Neverland, forced to find way to get your mind off of the fact that your husband wasn't with you. He called whenever he could, but the countless time differences were a huge struggle. You just wanted the tour to be over so that you could be with your husband again.
Closing the novel, you placed it on the bedside table before getting up from the bed. You ran your hands over your silk top, and shook your head. You needed to get your mind off of Michael, thinking too much about him was not healthy.
Walking toward the bedroom door, you opened it and stepped out - pulling it shut. The house was quiet, but the sheets of rain continued to crash against the roof. You descended the staircase slowly, and saw that Gina, one of the maids, was dusting off the bookshelf. A small smile formed on your face as she straightened up, turning to face you. Her eyes widened slightly when she saw you, but her features quickly faded into a soft smile.
"(Y/N)," she spoke. "Is everything alright?" she asked when she noticed how pale you were.
With Michael being gone, you hardly ever ate - and so you looked frail, and sickly.
"Y-Yes," you laughed a little. "I'm just a little bored,"
Gina stared at you for a long moment, examining your form. "Are you sure?" she prodded. "My apologies, but you look very sick," she frowned a little.
"I'm fine," you forced a wide smile.
She kept her eyes on you, clutching her dusting cloth close.
"Okay," she said softly. "But I'm here if you need anything,"
You nodded gratefully and walked toward the kitchen. Reaching the area, you moved along - running your fingers along the dining table that was made of expensive wood. You missed not being able to have dinner, with the man you loved, anymore.
Walking to the back exit, you opened the door and stood there - watching as the rain fell to the ground. The day was dark, seemingly embodying your emotions. Leaning against the door frame, you closed your eyes as a bit of wind caressed your face - bringing a few drops of rain your way as well.
Tears formed in your eyes. You felt so lonely. You stood there for a good five minutes before you heard someone enter the kitchen.
"(Y/N)," a female voice made you turn around. You saw that it was Carol, the chief of staff at Neverland. She looked rather worried when she saw how fragile you looked. "Are you okay?" she inquired.
You folded your arms and nodded, clearly lying. Of course, since Carol was an older woman - she knew that you were lying.
"You can lie to everyone else, (Y/N)," she laughed. "But you cannot lie to me," she folded her arms. "Tell me what's wrong,"
You bit your lip and sighed. She had a fair point. Carol had become a mother figure for you, and there was no way that you could lie to her.
"I just...miss Michael," you lowered your gaze to the floor. "I miss him so much," you breathed.
Tears formed in your eyes as Carol approached you.
"I just..want....him to come..back," you sniffed. "I know I seem childish but...I just...miss him," you shook your head. Carol pulled you in for a hug, rubbing your back. "I just want to see him again," you said through tears. "I know I'm making a big deal out of nothing," you used the back of your hands to wipe away the tears after Carol pulled away to look at you.
"Honey, this is completely normal. Everyone is aware that you miss him, trust me," she smiled a little. "And none of them think that you're making a big deal out of nothing. You miss the man you adore, it's normal," she placed her hands on your shoulders. "But you need to focus on the positive, at least you get to talk to him often," she studied you. "And soon enough, you'll be back together again,"

After spending the day doing nothing, you had gone to sleep at around one in the afternoon, and you had slept for quite a while. You opened your eyes slowly, and glanced at your alarm clock. You had slept until two in the morning. The lights were on, making you squint a little.
You sat up, and looked around the bedroom - trying to regain all your senses. As your eyes scanned the room, they landed on a plethora of bags - resting on your dressing table. The bags were of your favorite color, and they seemed expensive.
A frown formed on your face as you got out of the bed, moving over to the bags. You scanned them, looking for some indication as to whom had sent them. A moment passed before your eyes landed on a card - laying near the mirror. You grabbed the card and opened it, reading the words that had been printed.
My love, I am so sorry for having left you on your own - I hate doing that to you. I'm here to see you, darling. These gifts are for you.
-Love, Michael
Your eyes lit up, and you tossed the card onto the dresser, making your way to the bedroom door. You opened it and stepped out before pulling it shut. Your heart was racing as you rushed down the staircase. A smile was present on your face as you looked around the living room.
Searching the area, you couldn't seem to find him. You stopped for a brief second, setting your hands on your hips. Then, you heard someone approaching you from behind. Biting your lip, you turned around and your features contorted into a wide smile.
"I'm here to see you, (Y/N)," he smiled. "I've missed you a great deal," he grabbed your hand and pulled you closer to him. "I've missed you so much," he whispered. "And I'm sorry that you have to be alone for most of the time," he kissed your forehead. "But I've spoken to Frank," he referred to his manager. "And he's going to reorganize my performance dates, just so that I can see you more often," he beamed.
You giggled and threw your arms around him. You were so happy that he was back. You didn't want to let him go.
"I love you so much,"
