You stared at your reflection in the mirror, and you watched as the tears streamed down your face. The morning was dull, and the time was six thirty. The room was a little dark despite the fact that the curtains were drawn open. Your husband of ten years, Michael, was still asleep. You were seated at your dressing table, and you were upset because your depression was at an all time high. Biting your lip, you closed your eyes as the tears fell down your cheeks.
Crying was a form of release for you, but it was also very exhausting. You were tired of being upset, and you wished that you weren't as depressed as you were. You just wanted to be okay. You'd had your depression for many years now, and Michael wasn't aware of it. You always cried in secret, and whenever he sensed that something was wrong, you would lie to him.
Running your hands over your thighs, you focused on the feel of your silk night gown. The air was cold, and you were shivering slightly. You peeked at Michael, and saw that he was still fast asleep.
The two of you had been married for over a decade, and you had a beautiful little girl named Jade. She was five years old, and she looked just like you. She was a copy of you, with a voice like her father's. Your husband and your daughter were everything, but recently - your depression had gotten worse. You were always feeling lonely, and you didn't know how to function anymore. You just wanted it all to end.
Along your arm, there were scars of wounds that had previously been caused by a sharp razor blade that you had gotten hold of. Since you always wore long sleeves, Michael hadn't seen the marks at all. You seemed to know how to hide everything from him. You sniffed before you heard your husband stir.
You stood up, and made your way to the bathroom door just as Michael groaned a little. You stopped and turned around to see that he was now sitting up.
"Babe?" he questioned, his voice hoarse. "Is everything okay? Come back to bed,"
"Everything's fine," you lied. "It's six thirty, I need to get Jade ready for school," you breathed.
"School doesn't start until eight," he sighed, rubbing his eyes. "Come back and spend a few more minutes with me. I want to hold you,"
You shook your head and stared at your husband. You wanted to get back into bed with him, and you wanted to be in his arms - but you just couldn't. You felt like a complete mess, and you didn't want him to see that you had been crying.
"I take long to get ready," you made up another excuse. "I need to get ready before waking Jade up, we can cuddle later," you said quickly before opening the bathroom door and stepping inside. After you had done this, you pushed the door shut and locked it.
You leaned back against the piece of wood and sighed. The tears began to stream down your face again, and you wanted to scream. You wanted the turmoil to be over.
"(Y/N)?" you heard Michael knocking against the bathroom door. He had gotten up, and now he was worried about you. "Baby, open the door. Are you crying?" he inquired as you sniffed.
You groaned a little before unlocking the door and opening it. Michael stood there, and he had a frown on his face. He took a step toward you, and brought his left hand up to rest on your cheek.
"Baby, why are you crying?" his features were beautiful, even when he was frowning deeply. "Hey, hey," he whispered as you sobbed quietly. "Tell me what's wrong,"
"I.....I...can't...tell you right now," you used the back of your hand to wipe the tears away from your face. Michael's hand fell to his side, and he continued to stare at you. "Can we....talk after...I drop Jade off at school?"
