~SET IN THE BAD ERA~

×××××♡×××××

You walked through the front door of the flat that you shared with your boyfriend of three years, Daniel. Your legs were tired, and your eyes were swollen. The day had been long, and since you worked as an accountant, your days were always very busy. The flat was quiet, making you frown. Daniel didn't work at all, so you expected him to be home. You were responsible for paying the bills, and the rent.

A moment passed before you shut the front door, looking around.

"Daniel?" you called.

Suddenly, you heard movement upstairs. A small smile formed on your face as you made your way up the staircase.

"Daniel?" you called again.

You arrived at the bedroom door, noting that it was closed. A frown formed on your face as you heard shuffling inside. Opening the bedroom door, your eyes widened as you were met with the strong stench of fresh blood.

You gasped when you saw that Daniel was standing over a female body - laying in a pool of blood.

"Oh my God!" you held your hands up to cover your mouth. Daniel stood there, a knife in his hand. In his eyes, there was a strange look.

He looked insane. You gasped before collapsing onto the floor. The last thing you remember was Daniel's expression before everything went black.

You sat up with a start, gasping for air as you did so. You tried to steady your breathing as you came to the realization that you had been having a nightmare. Daniel had been your boyfriend eight years ago, and after that murder in your flat - he had been admitted to an asylum. However, the memories of the event haunted you in the form of nightmares.

You were now happily married, and had been for two years - to Michael Jackson. He loved you dearly, and you felt the same for him. He was your prince, and you were his princess.

As you ran your fingers through your hair, you felt your husband stir beside you. Michael sat up, and turned on the bedside lamp. A frown was on his face as he turned his head to look at you.

"Baby?" his voice was hoarse. "Another nightmare?" he questioned.

You sighed and nodded as he pulled you toward him, making you rest your head on his chest. Your hands were trembling, and you felt frightened.

"It's okay," he whispered, running his fingers up and down your upper arm. "Relax," he breathed.

"I keep having nightmares about him," you mumbled. "I can't get them to stop,"

"Do you want to go and see a therapist?" he questioned.

"No," you sighed. "Therapy won't help,"

"Just...give it a try," he spoke gently. "Go to see a therapist tomorrow, and if you still don't like the idea - then we'll figure something out from there,"

You stayed silent, chewing on your lip as you thought about the idea. You glanced at the small alarm clock that was seated on the bedside table, noting that the time was two in the morning. Your sleep was being sabotaged, and you needed to find a way to help yourself.
