~SET IN THE DANGEROUS ERA~

A request from jamia0903 - I made up the era, I hope you're not annoyed!

Tears streamed down your face as you fiddled with your fingers. Your wedding band glistened in the light, and the air was cold. Seated on the large bed that you shared with your husband, Michael, you were waiting for him to return home. It was three in the morning, and he had promised that he would have been home by midnight.

You had been married to Michael Jackson for five long years, and recently, he wasn't being the man that you needed him to be. He had stopped talking to you, always remaining silent when you were around; and when he did talk to you, the both of you would end up fighting - it was messy. You were scared that your marriage was failing, and you didn't want that to happen.

Just like any sane person on the face of the earth, you wanted your marriage to be fruitful. You wanted it succeed.

Suddenly, you heard the front doors open and close - indicating that your husband was home. Your heart skipped a beat as you wiped the tears off of your face - using the back of your hand.

A minute passed before you heard Michael marching up the stairs. You inhaled deeply as the bedroom door opened - revealing the handsome man. He took a quick glance at you before entering - shutting the door behind him.

"You're still up," he remarked.

"I was waiting for you," you did your best to flash him a smile.

"I told you not to wait for me," he responded. "I thought we agreed,"

"We did," you bit your lip. "But I wanted to be sure that you got home safely,"

"You mean you wanted to find out if I was cheating on you," he raised an eyebrow, his voice laced with sarcasm. "Well, I'm not,"

"I never said that you were," you sighed, getting up from the bed. "Why do you always suspect the worst of me?" you frowned. "Do you want me to be a bad person?"

"I never said that," he sneered a little. "I'm just addressing the elephant in the room," he scoffed a little.

"Michael, I don't want to fight - please," you breathed. "All we ever do is fight, nowadays,"

"I'm not fighting with you," he made his way over to his closet - opening the doors.

"Michael, can we have a decent conversation?" you questioned. "For once?"

"I'm not feeling it," he groaned, closing the closet doors. "Forget it, I'm sleeping in the guest room tonight,"

"Michael!" you exclaimed.

Your husband didn't listen, making his way toward the bedroom door. He opened it loudly and stepped out, kicking it shut once he had done so.

Oh God, please help us.

Michael.

I opened my eyes, and frowned. I was in a dark room, and I couldn't see what was around me. Frantically, I searched the room - only to be met with pure darkness. My heart was racing, and I felt as if something was wrong.

Suddenly, it occurred to me that I was dreaming. This provided me a little bit of comfort, and I began to walk forward. Despite the fact that the room was pitch black, I let my feet move - leading me further into the darkness.

As if out of nowhere, I sensed that someone was behind me. I quickly turned around, widening my eyes when I saw a beautiful woman. She was dressed in a stunning white dress, surrounded by light. She reminded me of my wife.

She was smiling at me, a soft smile. I stared at her for a long minute before she began to speak.

"Michael," she began. "You haven't been the man that (Y/N) needs you to be," she stared me down, making me feel slightly guilty. "You've left her alone in this marriage, and you risk losing her," she continued. "You must live up to the vows that you had taken with her. She's living up to her end of the bargain, and so should you," she breathed. "It's only right,"

My eyes began to tear up slightly as I thought about the way that I'd been treating my wife. I needed to be a better man.

"You will lose (Y/N) soon if you don't mend your ways,"

"N-No," I mumbled. "I can't lose her!" the woman began to fade away. "I can't lose her!"

~~~~~~~~~~
"I can't lose her!" I exclaimed, sitting up with a start. My heart was racing, and I felt as if I couldn't breathe. The dream felt so real.
Heck, it may as well have been real - I was sweating profusely, and my palms were cold. Since I was in the guest room, (Y/N) wasn't by my side. I got up from the bed, and rushed toward the bedroom door. I opened it, and ran out - not bothering to shut it behind me.
I dashed to the bedroom that I shared with my wife, knocking against the door loudly.
"What the hell?!" I heard (Y/N) exclaim before she opened the door. "Michael, you could have just opened it," she groaned slightly. "What do you want?" she seemed annoyed.
"I'm sorry," I got down on my knees, my eyes tearing up. "I'm so sorry," I breathed. "I haven't been the man that you need me to be lately, and I'm sorry," the tears began to stream down my face.
(Y/N) seemed shocked, but she bent down - tilting my chin up gently, using her index finger.
"Baby," she whispered. "It's fine," she flashed me a small smile. "You've been under a lot of pressure, and I understand that - but you realized your mistake, and that's what matters," she got down on her knees as well so that she could look at me. "Neither of us is perfect, but we can work through this," she focused on me. "Together,"
"Please don't leave me," I whispered. "Please...stay by my side," I sniffed. "Always,"
"I will," she kissed my forehead. "Always,"
