✽SET IN THE BAD ERA✽
|1989|
•Six Months Ago•
You were seated in the foyer of the hospital, fiddling with your fingers as you waited for the doctor to call you back in. You had been feeling rather ill, and so you had gone to visit a doctor - who proceeded to run a few tests for you. You were waiting for your results, and you were worried. You wanted everything to be okay.
It had been two months since you had tied the knot with the man you loved - Michael Jackson. Yes, he was one of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, and yes you were married to him.
He was currently rehearsing for a performance that he had in two weeks - and he was unaware that you were at the hospital.
You fiddled with your fingers when the doctor, Dr. Jenkins, opened the door to her office - calling your name, and beckoning you to go inside. You stood up, and walked up to her as she stood aside to let you in. Entering, you let out a sigh before taking your seat. Dr. Jenkins moved to her own seat, across from you.
There was an open folder on her desk, one that you assumed to be yours. She studied you for a long moment, and silence prevailed in the room.
"Mrs. Jackson," Dr. Jenkins let out a breath. "Your results have come in,"
You took in a deep breath and kept your cold hands on your lap. "Is it bad?"
"Well, the results I have, here, prove that you have weak kidneys," she spoke with a serious expression.
"What...does that mean?" you inquired, feeling your throat dry up.
"You can't be under stress, so having a job with a lot of pressure is out of the question," she explained. "You'll need to rest, more than the average person, and you cannot take alcohol," she shook her head. "I'll write you an elaborate list of the things that you need to stay away from," she bit her lip. "But...there is another thing that I need to inform you of, and I need you to understand," she looked a little sad.
"What is it?" you asked softly.
"You cannot have children," her words seemed to pierce your heart. "Your body cannot take it,"

P
resent Day.
You were seated in front of your dressing table mirror, brushing your hair. It was seven in the evening, and you were getting ready to go out to dinner with your husband, Michael. He was in the bathroom, and you were just fixing your hair. You had on a purple dress that fell to your knees, and the design of the garment accentuated your seven month old baby bump. Yes, you were pregnant, and no - Michael was not aware that you had been informed not to have children.
You had not informed Michael of the visit you had made to Dr. Jenkins, and so he knew nothing of the fact that you had weak kidneys. Throughout the pregnancy, you had been seeing Dr. Jenkins - and despite the fact that she was strongly against you having a baby, she promised not to say anything to Michael. After all, she was bound by the laws of patient confidentiality.
The seven months had been good, and you seemed to have been alright. You were very tired for most of the time, but other than that - you felt completely fine. You were happy that you were pregnant, and you were excited to bring a new life into the world. Michael was excited too, he adored children.
