We climbed down the grand stair case.
“This is your house?”
“Yes, my princess.”
“It’s huge that I thought your whole family lived here.”
He just laughed. I didn’t help but stare at him. He had always been laughing that I thought it to be sarcastic. But as I gazed at him, he seemed to be laughing in a natural way.
“What is it?”
“Nothing…” ‘I don’t get it. Why did I became nice to him so fast?’ I asked myself.
“Because everything about vampires is attracting people, most especially humans.” He stated. “Though the mind refuses still, the body follows what a vampire says. Actually, vampires are used to each others presence. But since you’re just a newbie, I guess you still have those human qualities with you.”
“How did you know?”
“I could read minds, remember?”
“Oh… Yeah. I almost forgot.”
“Here’s your dinner, Masters!” the cook said as he and the maids placed the plates on the table. There are so many dishes and all looked delicious.
My jaw dropped as I gazed at all the food laid on the long table.
“Looks like a feast, isn’t it?”
“I can’t believe you’re actually eating these.”
“Why? Because you thought vampires only drink blood?”
“Yes.”
“Some vampires do while others also eat real foods like our family.”
“So how does it taste like?”
“It’s delicious. Why don’t you try it out?”
I tasted a certain meal and discovered that he’s right. “It sure is delicious.” The food was delicious and the ambiance was great! It’s as if we’re on a date— Oh, no. We’re just eating. They’re just extravagant.
I noticed that he smiled. I bet he read my mind again. Gee. Haruki, you never learn!
“Here, try this.” He said as he offered a glass of wine?
“Are you sure about this? I haven’t drink any alcoholic drink before.”
“Yes I am. Trust me.”
I tasted the red liquid and find it delicious.
“So?...”
“It’s sour yet sweet. What’s this anyway?” I asked as I placed the glass on the table.
“An animal’s blood.”
“WHAT?!!!” I exclaimed so loud that my voice echoed. The maids and even Holton was shocked with my voice.
“Haruki, calm down.”
“Calm down?! You actually made me drink an animal’s blood and you’re telling me to calm down?! What if I got a disease?!” I panicked.
“Sshhh!!!” he said as he placed a finger on my lips.
I was teased to lick it but remembering that there are people around, I erased that idea.
“Exaggerated? You won’t get any disease. You’re already a vampire so your body heals faster.” He drawls, laughing a bit about my reaction.
I just nodded. He suddenly removed his finger and I somewhat regret that. Oh shut up, Haruki!
“Now let’s just finish our food, okay?”
“Yeah.”
