SHE climbed downstairs to eat her ‘breakfast.’
“Good afternoon, my lady!” the maids greeted.
“Good morning!” Gee. This place made me so polite, she thought.
“Here’s your breakfast, my lady! Enjoy!” Lydia said as she laid the plates on the table. It was just the typical breakie people eat: pancake, bread and jam, bacon and glass of milk.
“Hmm… it’s delicious!” She smiled.
“Thank you, my lady!”
“Oh! You prepared all these?”
“Yes, master.”
“Wow! Good job!
Her servant just smiled.
“I envy you.” She pouted.
“W-why, my lady?” The servant’s eyebrows almost met.
“Unlike me, you can cook such mouth watering dishes! I can’t even fry an egg, you know!”
“Oh, don’t be. I can you teach you if you want, my lady.”
“Really?” Her eyes glitter.
“Of course, my lady.” The servant beamed.
“Nah! No thanks. I have no interest in cooking, you know.” She confessed.
“Whatever you say, my lady.” The servant just smiled.
“By the way, where’s Holton?” She looked sideways, searching for the guy.
“Master hasn’t come out of his room yet.” Lydia answered.
“Oh… Do you have the keys to his room?”
“But master allows nobody in his room.” One of the maids was worried.
“Don’t worry. I’ll tell him that it’s my idea.”
The maid looked at her once more and sighed. She slipped a hand in her pocket and slowly revealed a bunch of keys. “These are all the keys of each door in this mansion. Each key was labelled to its corresponding door.”
She accepted the keys and smiled. “Thank you.” She rose up.
“My lady, you haven’t finish your food yet.”
“I’ll finish it as soon as I wake Holton up. I’ll go now.” She walked away.
“My lady, he might get angry if you do that…”
“Thanks for the reminder but I’m used to it. So don’t worry.”
The maids just bowed and watch her go. She just nodded and left.
Haruki climbed upstairs and stroll down the long hallway. She stopped in front of the last room’s door. She knocked first to let him know that she’s there. “Holton, are you already awake?” She thought of her question again. ‘How would you know? What a stupid question!’
She picked Holton’s room key and inserted it at the keyhole. “I’ll go inside.” She grabbed the handle and gulped. This is it. She opened the door.
This is the first that she had a better look at his room. “His room sure is spacey, very spacey.”
She hesitate to step inside. The floor is so shiny and clean. Once you open the door, a sala set would welcome you. The seats were covered with white fur. She can’t help but to lay down on the soft couch. The oak center table has an elegant tea set on it.
The living room was facing against the floor to ceiling window. She opened it and walked through the veranda. There is a small oak table with two chairs. It was decorated with ornamental plants. She inhaled the fresh air and chill of the morning. It’s nice to be there. Until she remembered her purpose of coming there. She opened her eyes and went back to his room.
He’s not on his bed. She looked to the other end of the room and found him lying on a carpet.
