“I don’t want to be a monster.”

He stiffened. She knew she hurt him again, pointing out how much of a monster he is.“That’s why I’m doing this for you not to hurt people.”

“Holton…”

“You don’t have to worry. This was also my fault.  Think of this as your revenge.”

“Revenge? Revenge for what? What have you done so wrong that I have to take revenge for?”

“Last night, I was about to bite you. Good thing, Lydia came. If not, you might already be dead.” He held her tighter. It’s as if she would disappear once he let go of her.

“But you didn’t do it, right?”

“What? You want to wait for me to drain you first? Go on. Drink my blood. Also, you need energy.”

“Do I really have to do this?” she asked. She worried that her fangs might hurt him.

“Do I really have to tempt you for you to drink it?” He answered back with a question, too.

She stared at his neck then she heard a voice.

“Haruki, no!”

She wonder where the voice came from.

“Haruki, what’re you doing here?!”

She saw a guy standing meters away from them, his eyes composed of different emotions. There was terror and concern in his eyes. Somehow, he seemed so familiar to her. But how did he get here? Who is he? Is he a friend?

When she looked back at Holton, she saw how he was covered with blood. It’s coming out from the two holes in his neck like a spout. Blood flows, draining Holton. At once, she felt shivers ran down her spine. She was instantly terrified. Her hands automatically pushed Holton away and covered her eyes.

“Haruki? Why? What happened?”

Holton asked.

Her trembling hand pointed out the place where she saw the guy a while ago.

“What? Where? There’s nothing in there.” she heard him.

She slowly removed her hands covering her face and opened her eyes. Her forehead wrinkled. She got up and started searching. “I’m sure I saw him standing here.”

“Who is he?” he asked.

She suddenly stopped walking around. “I don’t know. I can’t remember. But something inside me is telling me that I know him.”

He just smiled. “It’s just a hallucination. You’re just hungry.” He pointed his neck, reminding her that she was supposed to feed on him.

“I don’t wanna drink any blood…” she said, terrified.

For a few seconds, he was surprised. But he managed to compose himself. “Okay, okay.” He said as he get up. “Let’s just eat breakfast downstairs.” He placed an arm over her shoulders and led her outside, leaving the sleeping dog.

He got a hold of the door knob and glanced at the spot she pointed out seconds ago. He didn’t feel any life form around so he decided to finally close the door.

Meanwhile, the dog opened its eyes and stared at the door of his master’s room. Then, he glanced at the spot that Haruki pointed and closed his eyes to sleep again.
