Just A Victim Part 34

SHE knocked twice on the huge oak door and said, “This is Lydia, master. I’m coming in.” She paused for a few seconds and waited for a response. She heard nothing so she twisted the door knob and pushed the door.

It seems like there’s nobody inside. Holding a tray of meal, she searched for her master. He’s not inside the room so she walked towards the veranda. There, she found him with his dog. His hands were on his pockets and he seemed to be in deep thought. He’s looking straight on the deep forest. His face was bland. Light, like her, was just observing him.

She slowly placed the tray on the round table and cleared her throat. “Here is your meal, master.” she said. He didn’t utter a word. Maybe he didn’t notice her. She was about to get back inside the chamber when he called her.

“Lydia?” he mumbled, almost inaudible to the human ear.

“Yes, master?” She turned around, facing his back.

“What should I do?” he asked.

“Master?” she asked out of confusion.

“Will it be okay if I meet her?”

“Her.” she repeated. She knows who that was. “No.” she answered directly. He sighed. “But still, the decision is in your hands.”

He turned around. His eyebrows almost met.

She stared at him in the eyes. “Just bear in mind, do not make another mistake. Please do not misunderstand. I’m saying this as an elder.”

He slowly nodded.

“Please eat the meal prepared for you and do not abuse your health. She won’t be glad if you meet her with that face and stature. That’s all. I’m leaving, master.” She finished her sentence with a bow and left.

She sighed the moment she got out of his room. “It’s another forbidden love…” she uttered. Once again, she glanced at the door and strolled down the hallway.

Meanwhile, at the veranda…

“What do you think?” he asked Light. The dog barked and wagged its tail.

“However, she’s mad at me.” Light suddenly whined.

“You want to see her, too?” It barked enthusiastically and wagged its tail again.

He sighed. “Me, too. I miss her just like you do.” he said as he ruffled its fur. He smiled but it didn’t reach his eyes.
