HARUKI opened her eyes and sat up. She glanced at the grandfather clock. It’s four o’clock in the morning. She jumped off from bed and rushed to the bathroom. She took a quick shower and groomed herself. She wore a dark coat and a hat but left her feet bare. She carry a pair of shoes and fixed her hair into a bun.

She slowly open the door, avoiding to make a noise. She was about to leave when she remembered something. She walked towards Holton’s room. The door wasn’t locked so she entered the chamber. She glanced at Light. It is still asleep.

She quietly walked towards Holton’s bed. She put down her shoes for a while. She didn’t want to wake him up so she kneeled, instead of sitting by the edge of the bed.

Her eyes examined him. He sleeps like a baby, so peaceful. He’s even smiling by now. He must have a good dream. If it’s possible, please stay asleep and dream, she thought. Because you may not like what you’ll discover once you woke up. She smiled but it didn’t reach her eyes. She lifted a hand to touch his hair but decided not to. He might wake up and once he knew she’s about to leave, he might beg her not to. She doesn’t want to hear his supplication. Because she knows, she’ll back off. She might decide not to go home anymore and stay.

Her body’s telling her that for the past few days, Holton had been kind to her. Yes, sometimes he’s playful and make fun of her. But he’s caring and thoughtful.

While she was unconsciously wandering along the streets, her body’s living happily here. The servants were kind and the place was peaceful, away from the pressure, noise and stress of the city. Every morning, the day welcome you with a bliss. It showers you with hope.

All of a sudden, he whined. She immediately grabbed her shoes and stood up. She tiptoed until she reached the door. Once she got out of the room, she dashed through the hallway, down the stairs and out of the house. She hid herself behind an old tree and put on her shoes.

She walked through the woods but follow the tracks leading to the main road. When she finally reached it, she waved a hand at an approaching cab. She hop in once it stopped and glanced at the forest one last time as if she could sight the mansion from there.

“Ma’am?” she heard. She turned her gaze at the driver and tell it where to maneuver the vehicle. She clasped her chest. Why does it hurt, she asked herself. Does she already love him? But it’s useless. They live in different worlds.

He was staring out of the floor-to-ceiling window. He didn’t mind the warm bright light striking his face. He just follow someone walking through the woods with his gaze.
