Hunter tells us everything. He tells us about how Rob and Scotch kidnapped Nick, Joe and Matt and made them into glowing monsters. One question lingers in all our heads. Why? Why would Rob and Scotch do that? And why did they have to kill us on April 20th? “B.B knows!” Krys shouts after taking in everything Hunter says. It’s getting pretty late. The sun is starting to set and we don’t have much time to talk to B.B. “What makes you say that?” Jenny asks. “He’s so secretive.” Krys insists. “Yeah. I think he was lying to me when he told me he didn’t know who ‘they’ were.” Rose adds. “We’re going to get the truth out of him!” I say loudly standing up from a bright yellow colored chair. I march over to the Employee’s Door and swing it open. B.B is in an office chair doing random stuff on his big computer. He whirls around startled. He sees all of us standing in the door and honestly looking pretty pissed. “Um . . . can I help you?” he asks. “We want answers!” Jenny commands stepping into the room. I look down at her. She’s always been loud and feisty since the day I carried her out of Le Café.

“What do you mean?” B.B asks nervously tugging at his shirt collar. “What do you know about Rob and Scotch? And what they did to Nick, Joe and Matt?” Krys demands. B.B sighs. “I figured you’d find out soon enough.” He whispers. I can’t tell if he’s talking to himself or us. “Find out what?” Hunter asks loudly. “Alrighty. Do you want the truth?” B.B asks softly. “Well yeah! That’s why we barged in and bombarded you with questions.” I point out. “Okay. There’s a lot to tell you. About Rob and Scotch and why I turned you into animals.” He begins. “Well tell us.” Jenny says eagerly. Her eyes widen a little and she steps back. We all realize this is hard to say.

They were a trio. B.B, Rob and Scotch. A team of young scientists. They all went to high school together. They studied science together in their spare time. They were the best students and were eligible for almost any college they wanted. But Rob and Scotch had other plans. They’d been working on an experiment. They were trying to give humans the power to teleport and fly and do other cool things that were convenient. They had a whole lab in Rob’s garage. The three boys would spend hours in there with their little experiments. One day, they invented something amazing. “We think this serum will give us the power to teleport!” Rob cries. B.B looks up from his science text book. “Really?” he asks leaning forward. “Yeah. We’re gonna test it.” Scotch explains. “You want some?” Rob asks opening a test tube of a gray liquid. “What if it’s dangerous?” B.B asks. Rob and Scotch exchange glances and shrug. “I think we’ll be fine.” Rob reasons. “You go ahead. I think I’ll just keep reading.” B.B insists. “Pussy.” Scotch mutters before taking a big sip from the test tube. He passes it over to Rob who does the same. The air around Rob shrivels up making a portal. He walks through the portal and disappears. Scotch and B.B exchange shocked glances. Another portal opens up on the other side of the room and Rob walks out. “Holy shit! It works!” B.B cries. “This could be revolutionary.” He marvels. Rob and Scotch exchange glances. Scotch shrugs. “I guess . . .”

Rob and Scotch had been getting bullied a lot in school. Everyone was teasing them and hating on them calling them fags and lab rats and all those nasty things. The three boys were outcasts. They lost themselves through science. But the bullying had driven Rob and Scotch insane. They began making other plans involving their serum. One day they were in Rob’s garage chatting. “You know we could get money from the bank so easily.” Scotch said grinning. B.B looked up nervously and giggled. “We’re being serious. We could do whatever we wanted. Kill all the people who ruined our lives. What do you think? We made a new serum too. We may gain the ability to fly.” Rob explained. B.B sat shocked. His friends weren’t murderers were they? Was this a game? B.B laughed loudly. “No way guys. I’m not taking part in your demented games.” He said between giggles. Rob and Scotch look down. “Get the fuck out of here B.B! I thought you were nicer than the other assholes at our school! I guess we were wrong about you!” Rob shouted angrily. B.B slowly backed out of the garage. “You’re dead. We’re gonna kill you first!” Scotch called after him.

Rob and Scotch kept working on their experiments. Their final product was a chemical that if you were injected with it, you could fly and teleport and have really good hearing. The only side effects were this weird glow from the radiation and demented ears. They decided to tell B.B about it at school. “This is your last chance fucker. We’re willing to forgive you if you help us test this on someone.” Rob explained. “Who?” B.B asks. “I dunno. We’ll get some random faggots and force them to test it.” Scotch reasoned. B.B winced. His friends were just evil now. “No fucking way guys. You’re crazy fags! I’m not hurting innocent people or killing anyone.” B.B said firmly. He stormed off angrily. They repeated their threats to kill him but he just blew them off.

As time went on, B.B got nervous about what Rob and Scotch were doing. He decided to sneak into Rob’s garage and see what they were doing. When he looked through a small window, he saw them talking. “I don’t want to risk testing this. It has radiation.” Scotch explained to Rob. “I figured out where we can get someone else who’ll test it,” Rob began. “We’ll go to the school near ours. The one that’s for middle and high schoolers. We can find some of the fitter boys who will test it and help us with our plans. But we need to strong tall ones. Natural Selection.” Rob explained. Scotch nodded. B.B backed away from the garage. He thought about this new information and began working on his own serum.

Instead of using random chemicals like Rob and Scotch, he looked straight to nature for inspiration. When he had a serum he thought would work, he made a plan. Go to the same school that Rob and Scotch used to find their test subjects and put his serum into the school’s water supply. When the animal DNA in his serum reacted with someone’s body they would throw up. So for a week, he disguised as the school nurse to find out who puked and had the animal DNA in them. He didn’t have any power over who drank the infected water and who ended up with animal DNA. After he injected the water with his serum, he paid one last visit to Rob’s garage.

“I know your plan.” B.B began entering the garage. Rob and Scotch looked up. “What plan?” Rob asked casually. “I know you went to a school to test your dumb serum on the students.” B.B blurted out. Rob and Scotch exchanged glances. “So what? How the fuck do you think you can stop us?” Scotch asked. “Well I made my own serum and I’ll have my own army to stop you.” B.B threatened. Rob and Scotch look startled at their old friend’s accomplishment. “I think our boys will crush your little army before they even know what hit them.” Rob smirks. “Whatever. It’s your gravestone.” B.B finished leaving the garage. Although Rob and Scotch didn’t seem fazed by his threat, they began to panic. “You don’t think B.B and his stupid army can stop us right?” Scotch asked Rob. They thought for a moment. “We can fix this. Have our boys hunt down his army and kill them. And B.B too.” Rob said smirking.

B.B sighs after letting out his story. I look at him shocked. “Wow.” Hunter marvels. “Well why don’t we just kill Rob and Scotch so they can’t boss Nick, Joe and Matt around?” Krys asks. “They disappeared. They moved out of Rob’s garage and I haven’t seen them since.” B.B explains. “But what were Nick, Joe and Matt saying about April 20th?” Hunter asks. “4/20 blaze it!” Jenny jokes trying to lighten the mood. B.B thinks for a moment. “Rob and Scotch are neo-Nazis. April 20th was Hitler’s birthday. They probably set that day as Nick, Joe and Matt’s deadline to kill you.” B.B explains. I shudder when he reminds us all Nick, Joe and Matt still have every intention of killing us. “I don’t understand. You left Rob and Scotch because you didn’t want to test on innocent people and you still tested your serum on us.” Rose points out. B.B sighs. “I know but if I didn’t have you guys, Rob and Scotch would use Nick, Joe and Matt to steal and kill and do whatever they wanted. I needed you.” B.B explains. Hunter sniffles in a fake tear. “That was beautiful.” Jenny whispers grinning. “So now you know the truth.” B.B mumbles. We stand there for a while just taking it all in.
