John

I think Super Six’s morale is slowly growing. Even though Nick and Joe attacked Krys and May, we all know they’re getting less and less afraid of Rob and Scotch like Matt. Things are changing. Nick saved Jenny when she was starving herself, Nick and Joe declared a temporary truce at the party and they’re not afraid to tell us when Rob and Scotch are making them hurt us. I’m still worried though. I’m worried about Matt, who has to hide almost every time he sees Nick and Joe. I’m also nervous about Krys. Nick and Joe blame her for Matt leaving them. The two of them are in danger. One day, I notice Krys slip out of Le Café. She didn’t say anything about going on break. I follow her out the kitchen door. She transforms and flies off. I transform too and run below her trying not to be seen. I almost lose sight of her a few times but eventually I know where she’s going. She’s going to the garden.

“We can’t win if they have six people and we’re just two people.” Joe whines. “We need Matt back. He’s decent and he’ll fight if we don’t try to separate him and Krys.” Nick points out. They’re talking to Rob and Scotch who briefly consider what Nick said. Rob shakes his head and crosses his arms. “But-”Joe begins. “No!” Rob thunders. “Matt can’t abandon us and get away with it!” Scotch shouts. He thinks for a moment. “We’re going to kill him. And I know exactly how.”

I still follow Krys wondering why she would meet Matt in secret when they don’t have to fight. She lands in the center of the garden and looks around. “Matt?” she calls out. Two portals open up on both sides of her. Nick and Joe close in on her. “What do you want?” she demands angrily. “Well we don’t want anything but Rob and Scotch do.” Joe mumbles softly. “What?” Krys asks. Nick grabs her arms behind her back. “Let go!” she yells. I slowly inch out of the bush waiting for the right moment. “No can do.” Nick says softly wrapping one arm around her neck. She bites down on his arms. He kicks her hard and she almost falls. Nick won’t let her fall. Instead he tightens his grip on her and crushes her neck with his arm. “Matt will follow her right?” Joe asks. Nick nods. An expression of fear takes over Krys’s face. “HELP!” she cries. Nick opens a portal and drags her through. The three of them teleport away. I missed my chance to save her. “Shit.” I mutter standing up. My head sticks out of the bush. “John?” a timid voice asks softly. I recognize that voice. “Matt?”

I see Matt crawl out of another bush. “I gotta help her!” he cries angrily. “You can’t just walk into their trap!” I protest. “But . . .” Matt whimpers softly. His eyes get huge and he looks up at me sadly. I raise one eyebrow. I know what he wants. “You’re not going to guilt me into coming with you.” I say firmly. “I need you. I can’t go alone. I’ll die!” Matt cries. “Well maybe we can wait until . . .” I begin. As I talk, Matt pouts and looks up at me with even bigger sad eyes. I take a huffy breath and sigh. “Alright. I’ll come with you to save Krys.” I agree in defeat. His face lights up. I start making a plan. “We can find her on B.B’s map and-” Matt shuts me up. “We don’t have time for that! I’ll teleport us to the warehouse.” He decides. “How do we know she’s at the warehouse?” I ask. “Well where do you think they took her?” Matt points out. I shrug which Matt thinks means I agree. He opens a portal, grabs my wrist and we teleport away.

We appear outside the warehouse. Matt starts going to the door but I grab his shirt collar to hold him back. “We can’t just walk in. We might get shot.” I insist quietly. He nods and opens another portal. We teleport to the window sill and look down into the warehouse. I look down to see Nick pinning Krys’s arms against a wall. She squirms and tries to free herself with no success. “Lemme go!” she screams angrily. “We can’t.” Nick replies softly. “Not until your boyfriend comes to save you.” Joe taunts. He’s floating in the air casually. “And then we kill you both.” He adds smirking. “No!” Krys shouts trying to kick Nick in the balls. He shoves her down. I see Matt’s eyebrows lower as he makes fists. “On three.” He mouths to me. I nod. He holds up his index finger. Nick slams his foot into Krys’s back. Matt holds up his middle finger. Krys screams and I see a tear slip out of her eye. Matt holds up his ring finger and takes a breath. “Now!”

Matt glides down from the window sill while I leap. I manage to land on my feet. “Leave her alone!” Matt shouts his voice cracking. Krys sits up dizzily. Matt flies over to Nick and tackles him. I help Krys up from the ground. “We have to leave now!” she cries tugging at my arm. “I know.” I reply annoyed. “No. I mean now  before . . .” she starts. Two more portals open and two boys emerge from them. I remember everything I heard about these boys. From Jenny, Hunter, and Krys’s descriptions of them, I realize these two boys are the infamous Rob and Scotch.

Nick shoves Matt away from him right into Scotch. “Oh shit.” I mutter. Scotch shoves Matt to the floor and pins him down. His hands force Matt’s wrists to the ground. Matt squirms and tries to push Scotch off him but he’s not even close to being strong enough. Nick and Joe exchange nervous glances and back away. Scotch looks down at Matt. A lock of brown hair falls over Matt’s eye. “Finally caught.” Rob taunts standing over Scotch and Matt. “You thought you could really outsmart us?”Scotch asks. Matt looks him dead in the eyes. “Yeah.” He answers angrily. Rob snickers as he pulls out a gun. “Stop!” Krys yells running over to them. Rob quickly shoots her stomach. She falls to the floor crying hard and her shoulders shaking. “KRYS!” Matt screams trying to tug his wrists way from Scotch. “Ha! Little Romeo and Juliet. You know they both die in the end right?” Scotch mocks. My turn to take a stand for the love birds. I step toward them and zap Rob with a yellow ray of light.

Rob falls over right on his butt. “Leave them alone! You seriously have no hearts!” I shout angrily. Rage overcomes me. I feel warm and energized. I know I’m glowing. I can feel it. I see a soft green glow surround me. It’s coming from the white gem I keep in my back pocket. Scotch moves his knees onto Matt’s shoulders and pulls out a knife. There’s a swastika on it. “Of course not. If I had a heart I wouldn’t kill your little friend.” He slides the knife across Matt’s cheek drawing little droplets of blood. Matt doesn’t even flinch. He keeps staring up at Scotch with cold angry eyes. I run over to Scotch and knock him off Matt. His knife clatters to the floor. Matt leaps up quickly like a spring under pressure. He takes out his mace and hits Scotch’s head with a spiky ball. I shoot Rob with another beam of light. Matt runs over to Krys. She’s still breathing heavily. He scoops her up into his arms, grunting a little from her weight. “C’mon!” he cries opening a portal. I run through it after Matt and Krys. Right before I leave, I see Nick and Joe left. We leave Rob and Scotch alone in the warehouse.
