Chapter Four
A Trip To Ayda
Part One
Searching the whole Hall took some time, but Katia needed to find Letitia, if she was still here. That blank parchment was still clutched in her hand. On her way past the bedrooms Samia came out and said, "Lost something?"
"No. Someone." Katia replied. "Have you seen Letitia?"
Samia shook her head. "Maybe she went out." She caught sight of the parchment in Katia's hand. "Is that from Jovah?"
"Well I thought it was, turns out, it's blank." She showed Samia the paper. "I asked Letitia to go to my office to check for a message from Jovah. I guess this is what she found, but now I can't find her."
Samia reached out and took the paper from Katia and stared at the top right corner. "It looks burnt." Katia also leaned in to see that the corner did seem to look a little bit burnt. "Do you still have the ribbon?" Samia asked. Katia reached into her pocket and pulled out the red ribbon that had been used to tie the parchment into a roll and handed it to Samia.
"What do you want that for?"
"You need to fix the light in your office." Samia said as she inspected the ribbon.
"What do you mean?"
"If the overhead light was working you'd have been able to see that this is a slightly lighter shade of red than what Jovah uses."
"Are you trying to say that Jovah didn't send this?" Katia asked.
"Yes. That's exactly what I'm trying to say. Whoever did send this, probably knows exactly where Letitia is. Because they probably took her."
"And the burn?"
"Letitia probably did that trying to use a wand to protect herself. Or maybe it was there from when a portal opened near it and sucked Letitia into it." Samia said. It amazed her that she knew more about this stuff than her trainer.
"So what do we do?" Katia asked.
"Why are you asking me?!"
"Well, you seem to know everything. Tell you what, I think we should all go see Jovah. Save anything like this happening to any of you guys."
"When?" Samia asked.
"Soon as." Katia carried on down the hallway, leaving Samia still holding the parchment and ribbon.
She knocked on her fellow Hunters' doors and waited. They all opened their doors at almost the same time. "We're apparently going to see Jovah. As soon as, so I guess we need to pack a bag. We don't know how long we will be."
"Why?" Zavier asked.
"Letitia has disappeared. Katia found this in her office after she asked Letitia to check if Jovah had replied. Letitia was gone." She held up the parchment and ribbon, and Jayden reached out to take it to look at.
"This isn't Jovah's ribbon." Jayden said, with Kaine leaning in to look too.
"Exactly." Samia said. "As for who sent it, I don't know. But Jovah will be able to help. So we need to keep this safe." She snatched the ribbon back from Jayden, then carefully, folded the paper and put it in her pocket. "And keeping things safe is not in your nature." She smirked at Jayden.
Katia packed a bag, unsure of how long her visit to Jovah would be. She, for now, just packed a couple of changes of clothes, her battle gear and then put some weapons in her weapons case. The young Demon Hunters did much the same. They all met up an hour after the news of Letitia's disappearance in the entryway. "OK, are we ready?" Katia asked them.
