Chapter Nine
Letitia's Lament, Katia's Curse
Part One
Letitia was alone, in a small dark room. She could see her breath puffing out of her mouth in front of her. It was freezing and all she was wearing was her white vest and a pair of thin leggings, her training gear. When would he come back? She didn't know. Would he harm her? Again, she didn't know. She didn't have a clue why he had abducted her, what he wanted from her. But she did know that he'd abducted, then released, her sister, Cassandra. Thankfully, she had been unharmed. If only there was a way to let the others know, so they could protect her.
The moon shone brightly outside the small, danky window high up on the wall, near the ceiling. She stood on her weak feet, her knees buckling, and looked around the room, for anything she could use to stand on. There was a small, wooden desk, and she went to pull it towards the window.
But she was chained. To the wall. Without her wand she was unable to release herself, but she knew if she gave in, she would be killed. She either had to lie, be clever, or get the hell out of there. But how? There was no way out, other than the window, but the chains would allow no leniency. There was no way she could get to it.
Her wand was not in her pocket, where it had been. Where it always was. And her blades had been taken. She knew she had had one at the very least when she had been taken. She couldn't see it on the floor. She looked all around, and when she looked up, she saw something that the moonlight hadn't illuminated earlier.
"Will you get a move on?" Jayden was asked by Jovah.
"I'm trying to think... Who would do this? And how?! I know Limus has an ongoing feud with us but, come on, doing this is just ridiculous!"
"Ridiculous? Or mandatory? There may be something Katia knew or may be about to find out." Jovah said.
He was used to the young demon hunters being upset with him and his decisions, but when they were upset about something that had happened to one of their own, they turned into a wake of vultures picking at bones until it was completely clean.
Everyone stood at his office door, asking questions. The only problem is, he didn't know what they were saying, they were speaking altogether, asking hordes of questions. "Okay!" Jovah shouted, holding up his left hand, " Katia is in the emergency room, she may or may not recover. The evidence says it was Lokey demons that attacked her."
Those were the worst, not physically though, it was easy to kill a Lokey demon, but the problem was they were almost as quiet and stealthy as Stealth demons. Silent, almost invisible, and a bastard to catch. They were quick, and manipulative. Because, as well as being stealth demons, they were also shape-changers. They could fool you into thinking they were someone you trusted, but it turns out... they were not.
Katia had been badly hurt, and they were unsure whether she would recover. Her heart was still beating, but faintly, and very slowly. Covered in her blood, Jayden and Cody set her down on a bed in the sick room. In this case it was more like a near-death room. Kirstie had sensed the presence of the demons, but it was too late to raise the alarm, and instead had come onto the courtyard just seconds after Katia had been attacked. She had been the one to scream, therefore grabbing the attention of the others who were already on their way out there to speak with Katia. Now, though, Zavier had completely forgotten about the statues, his trainer could be dead in less than an hour. A Lokey demon's poison was fatal if not treated with an antidote soon enough. Normally a Demon hunter would only last just over an hour after being attacked by one.
