Chapter Twelve:
Hell In Ayda
Part One
Jovah was having trouble trying to get the young demon hunters to understand what he had done, why and how he had done it. He had somehow broken Letitia free from Limus's prison. Or something that closely resembled a prison. Letitia was kept in a basement that was slightly underground. The window at the top of the wall in the little room where she was prisoner, from the outside, looked pointless. It was so low to the ground that no one ever took notice of it.
Jovah had gone during the night to Helroute, where Limus lived, though Limus had no idea anyone knew where he was. Until this morning when he went to question Letitia some more, only to find his Agro demon dead, the window smashed, and Letitia was gone. He'd tried tracking her, as he had her wand, but it was no use. Letitia was gone without a trace and he had no idea how she'd managed to move, never mind kill his demon and escape.
He stood over the mangled body of the Agro demon and sighed. Dumb thing. He spun on his heel and left the room, slamming the creaky door behind him.
Meanwhile, Jovah and Letitia, along with a man she had never met, were running over the field, Letitia glancing back at the small window she had escaped from, wondering how long it would be for Limus to find out she was gone.
Over in the distance they could see the town of Helroute, with its black wingless things filling the sky, howling, and swooping; the fire breathing demons lighting up the night sky, and the squawks and growling of all of Limus's other demons. She wanted to know what kind of creatures he kept here, but at the same time, she didn't.
When they were far enough away to make a portal without it being sensed by any of the demons or the man who had summoned them, the three of them stepped through the turquoise-blue shimmering oval and disappeared.
Back at the Hall, at three a.m., Jovah rushed Letitia to Andrei's room, no one would suspect she was there...
"Why didn't you tell us she'd been found?" Zavier asked.
They had been sat in Jovah's office since he, Ava and Toby had found out Letitia was there in the Hall, listening to Jovah's story.
"I wanted to find out what we were dealing with before telling you. I didn't want to scare you." Jovah said.
"Well you didn't scare us, but I did think I was going absolutely insane when I saw her! Seriously, man! You know not much scares us anymore...well, I can't speak for the little ones," He looked at Toby and Ava, "but, we would have kept quiet-"
"That's not the point, Zavier. Just trust me, there are many demons, some I've never seen before, we need to be careful. I have to put up extra warding charms around the area to keep Letitia's presence a secret to anyone, or anything, that might be trying to track her. He took all her weapons so I wouldn't be surprised if something happens soon. Now, if you'll excuse me," Jovah said, picking up his own wand, "I have to go. You should head off to bed soon, there's going to be extra training for everyone over the next few days." He left the room silently, leaving the door open.
Walking upstairs slowly, and sluggishly, Zavier, Ava and Toby were also silent. Until Zavier, who always had a problem letting things drop, said, "I just don't understand why he wouldn't tell us they were breaking Letitia out. What if something went wrong? He could have used a bit of help."
"The important thing is that Letitia is safe. You think we should tell Skarlet?" Toby asked.
"I think that might be Jayden's job." Zavier smirked.
