Chapter Twenty-One.
Killing The Innocent.
Part One
Blood. That is what covered the floor in the hallway just outside the training room in Corodin. Lars had lost it completely. Tommy had suffered the consequences of Lars's paranoia, and now Tommy lay lifeless on the hard, stone floor.
Missie had rushed, when she heard the commotion, from the training hall and into the corridor and had witness Lars just pulling the knife from Tommy's chest. He was covered in the other boy's blood. His own chest heaving, with blood splattered across the white vest he wore.
"What the hell, Lars?" Missie had screamed at him. "What the fuck is your problem?!"
Charlie had ran off to get some help, even though just looking at Tommy, that still, lifeless body, they knew it was too late already.
"I knew there was something going on with you two. So I got rid of him. Like you've always told me. 'If there's a problem, get rid of it'. So I did."
The knife was still clasped in Lars's hand as he spoke, little drips of bright red blood fell to the ground. "What are you talking about? There was nothing going on!"
Missie didn't know what the point in trying to defend Tommy was, but she had to defend his honour. He had been a valuable member of their army, killing demons was his job as well as hobby.
He had trained for years, just to be killed by one of his own kind, rather than being killed by the ugly, killing machines they fought so hard to protect their world from. All because Lars had been paranoid.
Ben and Hollie came to pull Lars away, Ben grabbing the knife from his hand. He tucked it into his pocket, and they led him away. "What do you think will happen to him now?" Samia asked, as Missie stared down at Tommy's body.
"I-I don't know. And right now I don't care." Missie turned to Samia. "You realise how close I was to maybe being killed by him myself?
Samia put a comforting hand on Missie's shoulder. Jovah arrived with a white sheet and placed it over Tommy's body. It seemed pointless, as the blood seeped through it almost instantly. The young demon hunters were taken back into the training hall while someone came to remove Tommy's body. Cody caught a glimpse of the man, and shivered. Not because he saw Tommy's body, but because this man was a very peculiar looking person. He definitely wasn't human, or a warlock, like Lukas. He was something else completely. He went back over to join the others and sat on the bench next to Samia and Missie, where they had been when the altercation had taken place. "Did you know he was that crazy when you got with him?" He asked, a little insensitively, but luckily Missie saw the comedic side of the question.
"You think I'd have started dating him if I did?" She raised an eyebrow. "Lucky escape if you ask me."
"What will they do with Lars?" Cody asked.
"Probably lock him up in the Court's cells and get the Chairman to question him. That's what happened last time." Jonathan said.
"Wait... Something like this has happened before?" Kirstie asked, shocked.
"Oh, yeah. Many times. Not while I've been in training though. But I remember hearing something about it from my parents." Jonathan said. "Pretty dark shit, actually. Two women, one guy... Let's just say when they found out they had his head off. Literally -"
"Jonathan, that's enough!" Jovah shouted. He was joined by Andrei, Kay, Ben, and Hollie. "Victoria is sitting up at the Court with Lars. Lance will question him, and then the Court will decide on whether he returns or not. Did anyone actually see what happened?"
