"And this is my room where I will be training you. Any questions?" As soon as I came into the shop, Rome called me in his office so I that I could meet the Ace. I was shocked to find out that the guy I excepted is actually a female. She didn't look like type to go in the field of tattooing. From the few tattoo's on her body, they looks like she got it just to say she had some.
"How long have you been working here?" She asks.
"A year and some change."
"You must be doing your thing to be training me."
"I guess you could say that. Either that or he could just be pushing you off on me."
"I'm good either way."
"Did you bring any of your work with you?"
"I have a few on my phone." She reaches into her purse to pull out her phone and hands it to me. I grab it from her looking at a few pieces that she's drawn out. Some of them were really nice. A few could use more detail but you could tell that she had an act for this line of work.
"This is good, you sure you need my help?"
"You think they're that good?"
"Yeah, you have an act for this. You just need to work on a few things like shading and adding details. Other than that you got it."
"Thanks for your input."
"No problem." I pass her back her phone. "Is this your first time working in a tattoo shop?"
"No I was a receptionist at one previously."
"Why'd you leave that one?"
"Things didn't work out, too much drama."
"Not into that type of crowd?"
"No, I like easy going, laid back people. That negative energy shit is for the birds. I'm too grown to involve myself with the petty bullshit of he said she said."
"I feel you. Lucky for you, we don't get that many people associated with drama."
"Perfect."
"Foreign, your morning appointment is here." Shanty knocks on the door pausing our conversation. Ace came on a good day. There are about five different clients that I have to work on today. I hope she takes good notes.
"Bring them in." Seconds later, Christian, a regular client of mine steps in. "Thank you Ty."
"No problem." The door closes and Christian takes a seat.
"What's up?"
"Nothing much, same old same old."
"Chris, this is our new employee Ace. She's going to be training with me today. You cool with that?"
"You know I never have a problem with a sexy thing working on me. Nice to meet you." He holds his hand out for Ace to grab making her laugh in the process.
"Nice to meet you too."
"What are we working on today, finishing up the back tattoo right?"
"Yeah." I turn my attention to Ace to get her up to speed.
