This years has really taught me to appreciate the ones who have never folded on me. It's helped me decipher the real from the fake. It has ultimately taught me to love myself in all my insecurities. I've broken down walls and learned how to allow myself to be vulnerable. I thank God for all the lessons that I learned and the losses. Most of all I thank God for the amazing man that I am so blessed to call my love.

I smile up at Foreign as I grab a hold of his hand and walk inside the church. Even though it was Tuesday, the pastor always made sure that New years Eave was reserved for the last day to spend in church. Every year since I could remember I've always made sure to make it a tradition to go.

We slide into the pew with Zanah, Chris, and the kids and try our best to hug all of them. Animosity feels the room when her parents comes into my view. A couple of months have passed since I've ended all contact with them. Anger starts to fill my heart and Foreign can tell. As much as I don't want it to, the wounds are still fresh.

"You good, we can leave if you want to?"

"No, I'll just ignore them. Are you good?"

"I'm straight, I already made my peace with the situation." I nod my head and turn my attention back to the choir.

"I will bless the Lord at all times, and his praises shall be in my mouth." I sing clapping my hands and rocking back and forth. Foreign joins in and rocks back and forth getting into it. I've rubbed off a lot on him throughout these two years that we've known each other.

"Praise God, praise God, for putting every single one of you in a seat throughout his house tonight. Welcome all, I'm so very happy that you could worship with us." Ms. Grace one of the missionaries comes up to the podium to speak. "We are going to start with the invocation followed by another song from our wonderful choir and then we will have our awesome pastor come up to to say a few words."

This young man walks to the alter and grabs the microphone from the podium and then gets on his knees to pray.

"Everyone please bow your head and close your eyes." He takes a deep breath before her starts. "Dear Lord, I first want to start by saying thank you for the breath in my lungs to say this prayer to you and movement into my body to be in your house tonight. Lord I want to thank you for all of the blessings that you have given me that I didn't feel worthy of. Thank you for the potential that you saw in me when I couldn't see it in myself. Thank you for giving me losses to teach me lessons when I thought they should have been wins. Lord I pray that this new coming year, new coming decade is filled with everything that we need. Lord I pray that you lead everyone in here down a path to their purpose. I pray that you open doors that lead us to greatness. I pray that you remove every worry or doubt in this year so that we may step into this new year with clear minds and clear hearts. Lord I pray that no matter the situation bad or good that we run to you first to fix any situation that occurs and praise you for what we're going through. In your name Jesus I pray. Amen."

"Amen." We all say in unison. I wipe my face feeling like that prayer was said especially for me. Lord please lead me down the path to my purpose.

"You okay T-Sai?" Vision asks passing me some tissue.

"I'm fine baby, thank you for asking."

"Welcome."
