Yellow saw Peridot and I come into the house and noticed Peridot's limp immediately.

"Peridot!" She cried. "What happened?"

"I tripped," Peridot replied. "I thought I heard something, so I was running around, and I tripped over a tree's roots."

"What did I tell you about being careful when you're running that fast?" Yellow asked.

"You told me to watch where I was going," Peridot replied. "I know."

"Okay, now come here and let me check your foot," Yellow said. "I need to make sure it's not broken."

I helped Peridot limp to the couch and sit down. After that, I carefully took off her shoe. Her foot was black and blue and a bit swollen in the middle. I covered my mouth and gasped.

"Oh dear," Yellow said. "It doesn't look broken, but I'm really wondering how you hurt yourself so badly by tripping over a tree root."

Yellow gently touched Peridot's swollen foot, and she whimpered at the touch.

"I think you sprained it," Yellow said. "You must have turned your foot the wrong way when you tripped. It must be pretty bad if you can't walk on it."

"W-will it heal?" I asked.

"She's a werewolf," Yellow answered me. "She'll be fine by tomorrow."

Peridot looked at me and winked. I rolled my eyes.

"For now, she needs to get some rest and stay off of her foot. You take her upstairs and get her foot propped up on a pillow, and I'll get an ice pack," Yellow said.

"Okay," I replied.

I helped Peridot get off of the couch and limp upstairs. I got her to her room and on her bed, and then I quickly put her foot on a pillow.

"Is that good?" I asked.

"Yeah," Peridot replied. "Thank you, Lapis."

I smiled and leaned in. She kissed me between my eyes and smiled. Yellow walked in and carefully placed an ice pack on Peridot's foot, making sure not to hurt her.

"Okay," Yellow said. "Remember to stay off of this foot. If you need anything, wake Lapis up."

Peridot nodded and laid her head on my shoulder. My face quickly heated up, and I saw Yellow grin.

"Good night," she said.

With that, Yellow left the room and shut the door. I sat next to Peridot on the bed and kissed her cheek.

"See," I said. "You should have trusted me that whole time. We're home."

"Yeah," Peridot replied. "I wouldn't have made it home without you."

I kissed her nose, and she smiled.

"Laz," she said. "I love you."

"I love you too," I whispered.

I kissed her head and ruffled her hair. Like her wolf fur, it was soft.

"What shampoo and conditioner do you use?" I asked. "Your hair is so soft!"

"I just use what my mom puts in my shower," Peridot replied, shrugging.

I buried my nose in her hair. Peridot closed her eyes. I caressed her cheeks and looked at her. She was staring at me with those piercing green eyes. I hated it as much as I loved it. I leaned in and kissed her. She kissed back almost tiredly. I pulled away and kissed her nose.

"You should sleep," I said.

Suddenly, I heard it. I whipped my head to the dark corner of the room.
