I sat up. I was too tired. Peridot had her arms wrapped around me and was humming a tune.
"I'm sorry," she said. "I know you wanted me to stay with you."
"It's okay," I replied. "You're just looking out for me."
"I just hate the thought of you being torn from me," Peridot whispered. "That's my worst nightmare. Losing you."
I nodded. "I don't want to—" I yawned. "—lose you either."
"Poor girl," Peridot said. "Let me get you some coffee."
"I don't like coffee," I replied.
"Tea?" Peridot asked.
"Sure," I responded.
Peridot carried me downstairs and carefully placed me on the couch. I sat, one quarter asleep, waiting. She came back with a cup of warm tea and sat next to me.
"You're precious," she said.
"You've been going super gaga over me lately," I replied mid-yawn.
"I just got the real you back after having a terrible replacement," Peridot said. "Of course I'm going gaga over you."
I took a sip of the tea Peridot had gotten me. It was nice and warm. Peridot always made everything perfect for me. That was a nice quality to have in a girlfriend.
"I was talking to the wolves last night while we were guarding the house," she said. "We're gonna do some training soon. Is that alright?"
"Duh," I responded. "That's fine."
"Will you watch?" Peridot asked.
"I don't have anything better to do," I replied.
Peridot kissed both of my cheeks. I rubbed my eyes. I didn't want to be woken up like that. I saw Peridot stick out her tongue playfully. She wanted me to wake up. I just wanted to sleep. The tea was helping, at least.
"Tell me when you're awake," Peridot said.
I yawned and sipped my tea. I didn't want to move at all.
Despite me being a human sloth, Peridot waited patiently for me to be ready. She was quiet, not making any complaints or anything. She just waited contentedly. I understood what it was like. I had missed her a lot as well, but she was going plain gaga over me. I had to remind myself that she was like this with me every day. Not to mention that she described how she sometimes stays up and just guards me. She said that she can't help admiring every part of me, and how she felt none of that with Serpentine. Finally, I woke up.
"I think I'm alright now," I said, placing my empty cup on the table next to the couch.
"Then let's go," Peridot replied.
She picked me up and carried me outside. She placed me on a log and walked away. The werewolves met her next to the water and began to discuss something. I couldn't hear what they were discussing, but I figured it was important. The vampires were wanting to ambush us. That was much too dangerous. Everyone would agree on that, that's for sure.
Yellow came and sat next to me as the werewolves got into position. They began to try to fight against Royal Blue. She must have been really thinking. She stopped them easily. They were all training to fight against Dravite, I knew that. They were thinking too much, letting Royal Blue know what they were going to do. Dravite would have been able to find out their every little thought and move, not just big decisions. The efficiency of this type of training is what really concerned me. I didn't want them to be doing this for nothing.
