Chapter 13: Fighting

The vampire was right behind me. That was when I decided to push off of my foot and not run, but jump. That, I never should have tried. Almost immediately, I was caught. A cold hand wrapped around my jaw and forced me to look right at Peridot.

"Punk," a voice said. "You thought you could get away just like that?"

"Let me go!" I shouted, trying to look at the vampire. Again, I was forced to look at Peridot.

"You see her? You see that dog?" The vampire asked. "This is the last time you'll see her. She's going to want to kill both of you since you decided to run, runt."

"Peridot!" I cried.

"Let go of her!" Peridot shouted to the vampire.

The vampire opened its mouth and threatened Peridot with its fangs. This made Peridot extremely angry. She charged at the vampire, only to get picked up by her shirt collar with its free hand. Peridot stared right into its eyes, just as scared as I was. Then it threw her away.

"No!" I shouted.

Peridot hit the ground and rolled into a tree. She tried to get up, but her wounds were making her too weak to get up.

"Peridot!" I cried. I tried to pull myself away from the vampire, but it just pulled me back.

I didn't understand. Peridot had told me that werewolves were stronger than vampires, not the other way around. Then it hit me.

This vampire's power is super strength.

I shuddered. I heard the vampire chuckle quietly.

She has to get up. She has to.

"Peridot!" I shouted. "Get up! Please!"

She weakly stood up, brushing off some dirt that had stained her jeans.

"Alright, you big jerk," she said, growling. "Let go of my girlfriend."

"Come get her," the vampire replied. "Or are you too weak?"

"Why are you doing this to her anyway?" Peridot asked.

"I just need to keep her in place until the rest of them arrive," the vampire answered.

Peridot growled. Fur covered every part of her, and her eyes began to shine in the darkness. She howled for the rest of the pack. The vampire growled as Peridot turned back to her human form.

"Looks like we'll be waiting for the rest of them," Peridot said.

Just as I hoped, the werewolves arrived first. They all growled at the vampire holding me. Not too long after, the vampires arrived. They quickly noticed me and hissed at each other, fighting to get near me.

"Wolves!" Peridot shouted. "Take the vampires down! I'll get Lapis!"

The werewolves all ran at each vampire. I tried to reach for Peridot as she came running towards me. The vampire was one step ahead, and it held me at its side and shoved Peridot away with its free hand.

"Peridot!" I cried.

Peridot fell back onto the ground and grunted. She forced herself to stand up. "I'm gonna save you!" She shouted.

"D-don't hurt yourself!" I cried.

Suddenly, I was shoved into the arms of a different vampire. Peridot looked at me, appearing to be terrified for my life. She came rushing at the second vampire, only for me to be shoved into the arms of a third one. Peridot was shocked. She was even more shocked when she got shoved by the second vampire.
