I didn't know what scared me more. The reason I was here or the amount of vampires staring at me. Topaz's entire army was probably standing in that room, watching me. I was laying on the floor with my wrists tied together with rope. Not a good position to be in when in a room full of vampires.

"She smells so good," one whispered to another vampire.

"Are you sure we can't get her?" The other one whispered back.

One of the vampires that had caught me leaned over me. I was able to get a good look at her face. She had the classic red vampire eyes and perfectly structured face. Along with her inhuman features, she also had dark magenta shoulder-length hair that shined in the light and curled around her cheeks. Suddenly, another vampire leaned over me. Her entire face really did look the exact same as the first vampire's. It shocked me. I felt like I was seeing double. The only thing that was different about the other vampire was her short and messy dark brown hair.

"You know," the magenta haired vampire said. "We can find out the werewolves' plan."

"Yeah," The other vampire replied.

She closed her eyes and grinned. I was just as confused as I was scared, and I was scared out of my mind. After a minute or so, the brown haired vampire opened her eyes. She looked so distressed, and it only confused me even more.

"I...I can't hear anything!" She said.

Every vampire in the room gasped. The magenta haired vampire closed her eyes and opened them, sharing her sister's expression.

"My thoughts aren't going through to her!" She cried.

The vampires all gasped again. I could hear the whispers throughout the room.

"The twins!"

"Their powers aren't working?"

"The sisters' powers aren't working!"

The two sisters looked at each other, defeated. Whatever their powers were, they weren't working on me, and that was coming as a shock to the rest of the vampires. Not so much to me. The door flew open, and in came Aquamarine, followed shyly by Gold.

"Of course your powers aren't working on her," Aquamarine said.

Every single vampire turned to look at her. They all looked as confused as I felt.

"She's a shield," Aquamarine said. "Your powers aren't working on her because her shield is blocking them."

Every single vampire gasped very loudly. They probably had never heard of such a thing. My guess was that they had never heard of powers not working either.

"Then how are we supposed to get her plan?!" The messy haired vampire asked. "My mind reading power won't work on her!"

Mind reading?!

"Topaz is planning on interrogating her, Dravite," Aquamarine answered. "Don't worry about it."

Dravite, which I assume was the vampire's name, looked at her sister.

"My false thought power didn't work either!" The sister shouted. "That's my weapon!"

"You can use that power on others," Aquamarine responded. "Like you used it on Peridot earlier, Elbaite."

That's what happened to her! She wasn't angry! She was just given a false thought!

"You used your power on Peridot?!" I asked.

"Yep," Elbaite replied. "Seemed to work just as planned."

I growled and squirmed. I needed to get back to Peridot. She needed to know that this wasn't her fault.
