I woke up the next morning next to Peridot, who was sitting up, fully awake. I frowned.

"Peridot!" I cried. "I told you to sleep!"

"I tried, honey, I tried," Peridot said. "I had a dream, and I couldn't get back to sleep."

"What happened in your dream?" I asked.

"It was Topaz," Peridot answered, pushing her hair back away from her face. "She wants me to meet her in the forest at one."

"Are you nervous?" I asked.

"I'm terrified, Lapis," Peridot replied.

I held her hands and kissed her. She melted into it and held my face in her hands. I sighed as we pulled away. Peridot was blushing.

"Lapis, I'm alright," she said.

"No, you're not," I replied. "You look so stressed."

"I'm just a little messed up," Peridot said. "You know that."

I sat, staring at her. She had dark rings under her eyes. She obviously was not okay, and "a little messed up" was an understatement.

"I'm going with you," I said.

"No, Lapis, you're not," Peridot responded.

"Yes, I am," I said. "This would be different if you were going to see some human or some other werewolf, but this a vampire, specifically Topaz! I'm going with you!"

"No, you're not," Peridot said.

"If something happens to you, I want to be there!" I shouted. "I just want to know that you're okay!"

Peridot's expression softened. She took my hands and sighed.

"I'll take you with me," she said. "But you have to promise to stay by my side."

I nodded. "I promise," I replied.

Peridot kissed my head and sighed. I looked at her as she brushed her hair back with her hand. She let out a rather loud yawn and grunted.

"Are you really sure you're okay?" I asked.

"Yeah," Peridot answered. "I'm just very tired."

"You should sleep," I said.

"No," Peridot replied. "It's morning. I should be up."

I pushed her down onto the bed. I wasn't nearly strong enough to actually do that, but Peridot let me push her down. She lay tiredly with her head on her pillow, barely keeping her eyes open. She hadn't slept for the past few days, and that was finally catching up with her.

"I'll explain," I said. "You sleep."

I kissed her head. Finally, she had given in. She almost immediately fell asleep. I quietly tiptoed out of the room, making sure not to wake her up. I made it out of the room without creating much noise. I sighed in relief as I closed the door. Yellow was downstairs, awake as usual.

"Lapis," she said. "What are you doing awake before Peridot? Are you Lapis or Serpentine?"

"It's me," I replied. "Peridot hasn't slept for the last few days. She's too tired."

"Why didn't she sleep last night?" Yellow asked.

"She had a dream that Topaz was telling her to meet her in the forest, and she couldn't get back to sleep," I answered.

"Poor girl," Yellow said.

"She said she's gonna go to the forest like dream Topaz told her to," I replied. "I convinced her to let me come with her."
