"That was weird," I said as Peridot carefully placed me down on the wooden floors.

"Yeah," Peridot replied. "Why did she even want to talk with me?"

"Maybe she would have said more if I hadn't come," I suggested.

"Maybe," Peridot responded. "I'm a little worried."

"Me too," I said. "What are we gonna do?"

"You've been with us for too long," Peridot answered. "We need to get you back to your house."

"What about you guys?" I asked.

"We can come with you if you want," Peridot said.

"That would be great," I replied. "I haven't been feeling safe by myself lately."

"I get it," Peridot said. "I can just gather up the wolves and we can head over." She raised an eyebrow. "Your dad will let us stay, right?"

"Maybe," I responded. "I mean, he thinks your mom is pretty cool. They've been friends for a while, but he hasn't really learned how to trust werewolves. He hasn't really yet learned how to trust you."

"He's a human," Peridot said. "It was hard for you to wrap your head around my species too, wasn't it?"

"Yeah," I answered. "I was just shocked because I had just nearly been attacked by a vampire of all things. I didn't know how to wrap my head around anything at that point."

"Pack up your stuff," Peridot said. "I'm sure your dad would be happy to see you."

I nodded. "Okay," I responded.

I ran upstairs, Peridot following closely behind me. I took out the bag that I had brought and began to put the clothes I brought in it. Peridot helped me get the rest of my things and stuff them in my undersized bag. Somehow, she even managed to zip it up, despite how much it was overflowing.

"This is why I pack," I said.

Peridot looked over at me and raised an eyebrow.

"Just because I'm coming over doesn't mean I need ten outfits and three toothbrushes," I said.

"You never know!" Peridot cried.

"I'm pretty sure four hairbrushes is overdoing it," I responded.

"Maybe it is," Peridot said. "And maybe I'm just trying to make sure you have everything you need."

"You get everything I don't need," I replied.

Peridot rolled her eyes with a smile on her face. "Tell me what your definition of overpacking is next time and I won't do it," she said.

"This is overpacking," I responded, pointing to the inflated backpack.

"Yeah, yeah," Peridot said. "Let's go."

We walked back downstairs, where Yellow was. She looked at us, appearing to be a little confused.

"Where are you two going?" She asked.

"We're going back to Lapis's house," Peridot answered.

"I should probably get going myself," Yellow said. "Vampires know where we are. We need to get out."

"We're bringing all of the werewolves to Lapis's," Peridot responded. "Knowing Topaz, who is definitely a tracker, it won't last for too long, but it will last long enough for us to organize ourselves." She clenched her fists, growling. "We've let this get too out of hand. If we let it go on for any longer, we won't be able to stop it."
