I met him first at a high school. He was a senior, I just got in. He was quiet, hanging just with two or three people all the time. When he left school, I thought I will never see him again.
Years have passed and I finished the high school and I have one dream that I have followed since my childhood, to become a veterinarian. My parents never approved it, but how could they? My mother, lawyer, my father manager, they saw me in a different sphere. But I knew, that I will follow my dreams, no matter what. So, one day, they came to my room and announced me, they will not give me a penny for my studies.
Nothing has changed, not even after my mom's death. Death that destroyed my father and made him a different human being.
So, here I am, doing waitress, then running to school, and then again to the work, so I could clean the place up, close it and fell to the bed totally exhausted. I will be honest, I have never ever thought it could be like this; the truth is my dad could pay for two schools and buy me a flat, so I wouldn't travel through the whole city all day long. But no, I did something against his will, so I have to learn.
Maybe it is good after all, that I don't have to spend whole day at home...
It was a regular day at work, I was serving food, cleaning tables and when I have few seconds of a free time, I read from a book of anatomy, that I have under the desk of a bar.

"Hey, uhm, coffee, black," man's voice caught my attention.
"Oh, sure," I smiled and grabbed a coffee pot. I went his direction and I couldn't help myself, I stopped and stared at him.
That face - so familiar... I have seen him before, I could swear.
"Something wrong?" he raised eyebrow.
"No, no, sorry I..." I stuttered nervously, poured him a cup of a coffee and quickly went away.
Where on Earth I met you? I thought and watched him for few seconds.
"Thanks," he waved at me, put money on the bar and disapeared.
"Mary?" I looked at the second waitress.
"What is it, Shani?"
"Don't you know, who was that guy? The one who just left, with hoodie and cap on his head."
"Yeah, sure. That's Tommy... Uhmmm, Tommy Conlon."
"That's why he seemed so familiar, I remember him and his brother from the high school."
"Yeah, his brother is a teacher now and Tommy, well nobody knows, what he does. He travels a lot, I think. He never speaks, when he comes here, he just has coffee and goes away."
"Hmmm," I hummed, thinking. "Thanks. Oh, god, I have to run!" I looked at the clock and realised I have to be in a lecture in 30 minutes.
"I'll be back around 6, okay?" I gave Mary a smile and quickly ran to catch a bus.
