The summer heat took its toll on the outskirts of Miyagi. The week long summer camp recently just ended, but summer is just getting started for Ayame. Every summer, she would go to work as much as possible, whenever there's an open shift, she would take it in a heartbeat. It helps her sustain a good budget, enough to support her apartment monthly costs, food, and many other expenses.
This summer isn't any different. In fact, she's been begging to get a shift, but her manager kept insiting that she should spend more time with her friends. You know, the typical 'go and make some memories this summer for a change' excuse.
"Today's a slow day...you can take the day off, I can handle the rest." Tachibana said, resting her chin on the counter. It was true: the cafe was deserted in the middle of the afternoon, you can practically see a tumbleweed blowing past it.
"Are you sure? I can stay for a while, I have nothing else to do anyways." Ayame said as she flattened the creases of her maid outfit. One of the reasons why she wanted to stay was because the cafe had built in air conditioners, she dreaded to leave the cafe - which was like walking into an oven- just to head home and do nothing.
Ding! That's when their first costumer entered through the doors, making the small bells ring. The raven haired girl turned her head to the door to see Oikawa with a younger child tagging along with him.
"Yoohoo~ Aya-chan, long time no see!" He said, glomping the girl infront of him, catching her off guard.
"Ah- haha..." she chuckled nervously as she tried to struggle away from his hug. "Oikawa-san, you're sweaty, let go." She would've went for the typical Assikawa-san, but with the presence of a child, well... she has to hold back the foul insults for now.
He finally releases the girl, grinning widely at her as he patted the child's back, "My little nephew, Takeru wanted to eat something nice before we head off, right Takeru?"
The little boy nodded, in which the girl gave him a small smile in return. "Take your seats over there, and make your order, my treat."
"Aww~ Aya-chan's treating me! So kind!" The brunnette shed a fake tear, making her raise an eyebrow at him.
"I'm only treating Takeru, don't get ahead of yourself, Oikawa-san."
"Thank you, Aya-nii!" The little boy then turned to Oikawa sticking his tongue out at him mockingly, and him, being a childish boy he is, stuck his tongue in return.
Aya-nii...
Aya-nii...
Aya-nii...
Those words echoed in her mind. Never in her life, she would think herself as a big sister to someone. That just made her day.
The words stopped echoing in her mind when a familiar ringing noise was emitted from the small bells, making her look to see who it is.
"Ah.Tsukishima, back again huh? I wouldn't blame you though. The cakes here are pretty good here." The blonde had recently been visiting the cafe to see her in a maid outfit during the summer, the sweet strawberry shortcake was just an added bonus for him. He eyed her outfit, a smirk growing on his face as he did so.
"Not bad." He complimented. "Next time, though, address your master properly." He teased her, making her rub the bridge of her nose in irritation.
"Fine. Tsukishima-sama." She mumbled under her breath, her cheeks tinted pink.
"Yoohoo~ Glasses-kun! Sit over here! " The brunnette yelled from across the room, patting the empty chair beside him as he did so. Much to his dismay, the blonde sighed heavily and sat himself on the table neighboring his instead, making the setter playfully pout.
