Chapter 2 (Shockingly Beautiful)

(Elise)

Renee and I walked up the steps and to the grand doors of the opera house, stepping inside was always a truly extraordinary experience. The gorgeous chandelier in the lobby, with the columns throughout the room, the elegant electric candelabras that graced the walls. Beyond the chandelier were the regal marble stairs that parted into two staircases towards the top, with big double doors at the end of each separate staircase. My jaw always dropped every time I would walk in the doors of the opera house when I'd visit.

"We are not a codfish Elise." Renee laughed at the way I gawked.

"Quoting Mary Poppins are we?" I giggled, Renee made a face at.

I picked up my bags and suitcase that I dropped in my shock of the opera house lobby, we walked to one of the doors on the ground level of the opera house and it opened up to a hallway. I was about to walk through the door when a shiver went up my spine, I had a strange feeling go through my body I felt as if I was being watched. I looked all around to find nothing, I brushed it off as my own paranoia. I walked into the hallway following Renee who would occasionally look back to see if I was there, the hallway was still elegant like the lobby but not as decorated. There were giant windows with a beautiful stained glass border on each window, I stopped to look out the window to see a beautiful view of a meadow.

"Beautiful isn't it dear?" Renee questioned staring wistfully out the window alongside me.

"Oh yes! Almost too beautiful for someone like me to behold." I replied in awe.

"Nonsense! Creation is for all to enjoy and to behold." She stated with a smile and pat me on the shoulder.

"Come along dear your room is at the end of the hall." She smiled at me and continued to walk, I followed dragging my luggage which was beginning to feel like carrying giant boulders.

We finally made it to the end of the hall, I was breathing heavily from all the luggage. Renee opened the only door at the end of the hall and I gasped, it was so beautiful, with a canopy bed, white walls with pattern of golden roses all over the walls, and an antic vanity along with a matching wardrobe.

"This room is so beautiful! Thank you Renee!" I yelled as I dropped my bags hugging her neck.

"You're welcome! Only the best for you!" She replied.

"My room/office is on the other side of the opera house if you need me, I know it's far away but I figured you liked your space. The kitchen is also next to my room." She gestured in each direction of the locations.

"Thank you!" I responded while starting to unpack.

"I'll leave you to unpack dear." She left the room, but soon burst back the through the door.

"Oh! Before I forget you should start practicing!" She announced.

"Practice? For what?" I questioned in shock.

"Auditions are tomorrow! I know you want to play violin in the opera house's symphony, and I'm sure you'll get in." She explained with pride. "Oh! I'll start practicing then! Thank you so much Renee!" I shouted with joy.

(Phillip)

I heard Renee walk in the opera house talking to someone, my curiosity sparked and I got up from my organ and ran to the door to one of my secret passage ways. I walked along the corridor and found my way out through the secret door in the wall of the third floor, I sneaked up to the railing over the lobby. I saw Renee walking with an extremely beautiful girl, my jaw dropped, but I was soon puzzled. 'I've seen that girl before.' I thought to myself. She stopped dead in her tracks, I froze as she began to look all around. I retreated back into the shadows hoping she didn't see me, to my relief she began to walk again.

'Who is this girl?' I questioned.

I was about to walk back to the attic, my home, when I heard something that utterly shocked me. It was the sound of music being played, beautiful music coming from a violin. 'It's coming from the direction that girl and Renee went!' I thought. I ran to another secret door and through it's corridor, and down a couple flight of stairs. I walked out of the passageway to the hall where the music was coming from, I walked to the door at the end of the hall.

'It has to be that girl playing violin, it sounds so beautiful.' I thought, but the music quit abruptly.

"Ugh! That was awful! I'll never get in, and audition is tomorrow." I heard her say muffled through the door.

'She's insane!' I thought to myself, I walked back to the passageway and began to walk towards Renee's office.
