Chapter 18 (Twisted Every Way)

(Elise)

Ever since Phillip told me his story, I felt we had grown closer. He told me that not even Renee knows the whole story. I felt special in a way for knowing the whole story. We had grown closer in just a small amount of time, we were almost inseparable.

I got ready for the day ahead of me and I danced to music as I put makeup on. I would occasionally sing along. Rehearsal was tonight, but before that I would practice with Phillip. My heart soared at the thought of seeing him. Once I finished I rushed out the door.
Renee stopped me.

"Where's the fire?" She giggled.

"No where I'm just going to practice with Phillip before rehearsals tonight." I bubbled giddily.

"Alright have fun, but he's not in the theatre!" She pointed out.

"Oh? Where is he?" I asked.

"He's in the garden, he goes out there a lot to think dear." Renee smirked.

"Thank you!" I smiled and ran out to the garden.

I opened the door to the garden and saw Phillip sitting by the fountain with a guitar.

"I didn't know you played guitar." I spoke.

He looked up at me and smiled.

"Just a little, how'd you know I was out here?" He asked.

I loved the sound of his voice. I sat down beside him.

"Renee." We both said simultaneously.

We laughed together and I took his hand in mine and he set the guitar down on the side of the fountain.

"I suppose I should probably tell you that it was me who carried you inside when you fell asleep on this fountain to my music. I couldn't let you sleep out here in the cold." Phillip revealed.

"Oh, well thank you, I mean sort of figured that it was you." I smiled reassuringly.

"You're welcome, and this is for you." He grabbed a freshly cut rose handing it to me.

I let go of Phillip's hand and carefully took the rose and inhaled the sweet smell.

"Thank you it's beautiful!" I cheered and kissed his cheek.

I watched Phillip as he smiled and blushed not making eye contact with me.

"You're most welcome! Should we practice now?" He asked expectantly.

"Sure let's go!" I grabbed his hand and ran to the theatre.

(Phillip)

Elise grabbed my hand and I held onto my guitar with the other and she ran dragging me along with her. I grinned wildly as we ran together hand in hand through the opera house. We ran through the theatre doors. Walking onto the stage together I set my guitar atop of the piano.

"So would you like to rehearse your solo first, or the rest of the music? Or we could go over your lines again." I suggested as I sat down at the piano.

"Um, what do you suggest?" She asked eyeing me carefully.

"I suggest we warm your voice up first, that's always a good place to start." I smiled.

"Sounds good to me!" She shouted.

I had noticed that since the time she had arrived at the opera house, she has become a happy bubbly person once more. She looks as she did when she and her family visited the opera house on rare occasions. I had also noticed that my mind was not focused on my misfortunes as it used to be consumed with. We had both become carefree people.
