Chapter 9 (Kidnapped Or Trapped?)

(Elise)

After dance practice was over, Amanda and I had spent the rest of the day together. I told about the strange hooded figure in the garden.

"What?! Are you kidding me? You're not pulling my leg are you?! You actually saw the ghost?!" She yelled.

"No! I saw something, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a ghost." I responded trying to convince myself.

"But you said it just vanished! Tell me what person could actually do that?" She questioned.

"None that I can think of, but I'm not jumping to conclusions! Although I do want to find out what's really going on here." I announced, the last part mostly to myself.

"Well Friday night you and I are going to find out! Even if it kills me!" She declared in a booming voice.

I laughed and we said our goodbyes as se left the opera house. It was late in the day and the sun was just barely over the horizon. I let out a yawn as I walked into the kitchen stretching my arms over my head. I opened the fridge hoping to find something appetizing, but no dice. Suddenly someone cleared their throat behind me, I jumped and let out a squeak. I quickly turned and let out a sigh of relief.

"Renee, you scared me." I laughed nervously.

"Sorry dear, I came to make dinner. Would you mind helping me?" She inquired giggling.

"Sure I'll help! Also I need to talk with you about something." I admitted.

"Of course dear, what is it?" She asked seeming a bit worried.

"Well I saw someone or something in the garden today." I revealed.

"Oh I'm sure it was nothing darling. Now if you'll chop the lettuce for me that would be wonderful!" She said as she cooked.

"If you say so." I whispered as I chopped lettuce.

The kitchen was consumed with the smell of spices. She played classical music as she danced while dicing tomatoes. Continuing to dance she hummed along with the music, looking like a ballerina wielding a wooden spoon. I laughed and joined in dancing, I tossed and prepared the salad. Renee laughed when she noticed I had joined in on her cooking dance. The song ended and we both bowed, we looked up at each other and I let out a snort which soon erupted into both of us laughing hysterically.

"Good show dear! You are a natural cooking dancer." She laughed.

"Why thank you! I do try!" I replied wiping a tear of laughter from my eye.

We sat down and enjoyed our meal together. We conversed on all sorts of subjects, and reveled in our best memories of my parents. I enjoyed these moments Renee and I shared.

"Well Renee, I think it's time I got some sleep. Thanks for everything, dinner, memories and all that jazz." I giggled and let out a yawn.

"Goodnight dear, sweet dreams!" Renee dismissed with a wave.

I waved back and walked out of the kitchen. It was dark as I went to my room, and I had this eerie feeling creep over me. Walking down the hallway a shiver crawled up my spine. I embraced myself as I walked into my room, I flopped onto my bed and slowly drifted off to sleep to music that floated through the opera house.

'This has become a regular thing now hasn't it? Well at least the opera ghost can make beautiful music.' I thought slowly losing consciousness.
