Chapter 22 (Dreams Of The Future)

(Elise)

As we finished dancing we stood there in each other's arms.

"Thank you so much for all of this, it's beautiful, I love you Phillip, all of you, so much!" I kissed his scarred cheek.

"Elise, my darling angel, you have bewitched me body and soul and I love you to no end! This is only a minuscule fraction of what I would do for you." He smiled and kissed my forehead.

He then looked at his watch and sighed.

"My angel, I'm afraid it's getting very late, you have an early day of practice tomorrow." He spoke seeming very disappointed the night had to end.

"Wait, early day of practice?" I asked.

"Yes, you and I are going to practice together!" He smirked.

"Allow me to walk you to your room?" He held out his arm.

I wrapped my arms around his and we walked back to my room. We stopped at my door and I turned to face him.

"Phillip?" I asked.

"Yes my love?" He asked with his voice barely above a whisper.

"Could I ask what your full name is?" I asked hoping I didn't cross the line.

"My name is Phillip Rayce Destler, you're the only one to know it." He smiled and kissed the palm of my hand.

I blushed at his actions.

"My full name is Elise Aria Daae." I smiled hoping he couldn't see my blush as I looked down at my feet.

I felt him delicately tilt my head with his hand to look at him.

"A beautiful name, fitting of a beautiful lady, goodnight my love." He carefully placed both his hands in my hair.

He leaned down and place a soft kiss on my lips that lingered for what seemed like hours. He soon parted his lips from mine and took my hand in his and bowed while placing a soft kiss on the back.

I watched him as he left and soon walked into my room shutting the door behind me. I leaned against the door and sighed with a massive grin on my face.

I got ready for bed and soon fell asleep under the warm covers.

I ran through the opera house short of breath looking back at what I was running from. Darkness was all I could see behind me.

I looked forward and saw Phillip with my hand in his as we ran. He glanced back at me with fear in his eyes. He wasn't wearing his mask and I could see his face was full of terror.

I heard a loud banging that rang throughout the strange corridor we ran through. Suddenly we ran past familiar faces, Renee, Amanda, Jonathan, Regina, and Matthew.

They all had utter horror on their faces, except for one. Matthew's face was dark. Everything was in slow motion. Suddenly the loud banging got worse.

Next thing I new Phillip was gone along with everyone else. I saw a dark figure standing in front of me. I screamed my lungs out and it began walking towards me.

I kept screaming, but it just got closer and closer.

"One day I'll catch you!" It shouted.

Suddenly I was awakened by someone shaking my shoulders back and forth.

I was sound asleep after a perfect night with Elise. I kept thinking it was all a dream, but it actually happened. I was the happiest man on earth. I didn't have to wear my mask around her anymore.
