Chapter 5 (Maybe It's Love)

(Phillip)

I sat at my organ in the attic and stared at all my instruments, I had some electric standing candelabras I stole from a musical scattered about my lair. I kept thinking and replaying in my mind the song that Elise played, I began to worry about my decision on singing to her.

"What if she finds out about me?!" I thought aloud while slamming my hands on the organ keys, I ran my fingers through my hair as I got up from the bench and paced the floor.

"What would she even think of me?" I questioned myself while walking over to my piano on the other side of the attic, I looked over my music. I sat down and picked up a pen and continued to add to the music that was already there.

"Maybe Renee was right, what could it hurt for her to see me?" I tried to play what new notes I'd written.

"Time is a river that flows endlessly and a life is a whisper a kiss in a dream."

Singing echoed through the opera house, I looked up from my music with wide eyes.

"Who is that singing?!" I asked desperate to find out I ran out of my lair and didn't even care about using passageways, I followed the melodious voice to it's source.

I found myself in the garden, I stood secretly behind the door peeking through. I was shocked at what I saw, it was her. Elise, the girl who was now living in the opera house and who played the violin beautifully. She finished her song and she was sobbing, I felt the impulse to comfort her so strongly but I stopped myself. I had to think of something, she was laying on the fountain's edge crying.

Suddenly I had a bright idea that I gladly thanked myself for, I quickly went to my liar and grabbed my violin and started playing. I played slowly and sweetly, trying to comfort her with my music.

"Where's that music coming from?" I heard her ask, I started to get a little nervous hoping she wouldn't try and find me.

Still playing I looked out from behind the door, she had fallen asleep. I immediately stopped and set my violin down, I walked out slowly and cautiously trying not to wake her. She looked so peaceful, at that moment it occurred to me that I've seen this girl all throughout my life. She had visited the opera house and Renee numerous times, I continued to stare at her.

'I can't leave her out here' I thought to myself, 'What am I gonna do?' I continued to think. I walked closer to her and attempted to pick her up without waking her, 'I can't let her wake up and see me, so I need to be as gentle as I possibly can.' I had her secure in my arms and walked away from the fountain, I came to the door and started to panic. The door was closed and I had Elise in my arms, I lift my foot up and tried to open the door. 'Success!' I walked through, thankful that it was night and no one was here.

I finally made it to her room, I looked around her room, I'd never been in here before. I made my way over to her bed, I gently laid her down and pulled the bed sheets over her. I stood back to take a look at her, she's gorgeous, like an angel. I leaned down and softly kissed her forehead, and grabbed a rose from the vase on her bedside table and carefully put in on the pillow that was on the other side of her bed. Tiptoeing out of her room I took one last look at her then quietly closed the door.

"What am I doing?" I whispered to myself and slapped a hand to my face.

(Renee)

I heard knocking at my door which startled me from my sleep, I look at my alarm clocked and groaned.
