Chapter 19 (Unsolvable Past)

(Elise)

After Jonathan and I had gotten lunch we made it back to the opera house. It was almost time for rehearsals to start and Amanda was already in the theatre.

"Elise!" She squealed.

"Hey, you're here somewhat early that's rare for you." I giggled.

"Hey! I can make it somewhere early if I choose to!" She playfully punched my arm causing me to laugh.

Out of the corner of my I saw Phillip peeking over opera box five.

"I know, um, I'll be right back!" I announced to Amanda turning around to leave the theatre.

I looked up again to box five and saw him leave as well. Running to the old dressing room, I hoped Phillip would meet me there. Opening the door to the old dressing room I noticed it was dark. I turned on the old lights and saw something on the pedestal connected to the mirror.

I walked over and saw a rose on top of a neatly folded letter. Picking it up delicately I opened it.

"To the lovely Elise, I ask your forgiveness for my blunder in allowing you to fall. I would love to make it up to you, by asking if you would meet me in the garden after everyone has left rehearsals. Your opera ghost, Phillip."

I read the letter and couldn't help the idiotic smile on my face. I then looked to the mirror knowing Phillip was most likely behind it. Nodding my head yes and smiling like crazy I took the letter and rose to my room.

(Phillip)

I stood behind the mirror watching for her reaction to my letter and rose. She looked up smiling and nodded her head. She turned around and left the room.

"Yes!" I shouted giddily.

Thanks to Renee I had an idea for Elise. I spent all afternoon on it. Now it was time for me to work on my favor to Renee.

(Elise)

I put the rose in my room and saw a new beautiful dress on my bed with another note.

"A gift for the lovely lady, but this is only part of my plan to make things up to you. Phillip."

I read the letter from Phillip, looking at the dress I had an idea of my own. Walking back to the theatre I was stopped by someone standing in my way. I looked up to see Matthew.

"Hello Rose!" Matthew smirked down at me.

"Hey Matthew." I replied trying to walk into the theatre, but he got in front of me again.

"It's Alexander." He laughed a laugh with a tone that made me nervous.

"So would you like to go get some dinner with me after this? I would love nothing more than to get to know my leading lady." He winked.

"I'm sorry, I have plans after this." I spoke quickly trying to get away.

"Again? Someday I'm gonna catch you on a day without plans Elise." He laughed.

His words made me uneasy. Maybe it was just me being paranoid, but something is off about him.

"Maybe." I smiled nervously and pushed my way past into the theatre.

(Matthew)

I watched as Elise left. I was about to follow her into the theatre when a letter fell down in front of me. Picking it up I opened it.
