Chapter 14 (Getting To Know All About You)
(Elise)
Rehearsal went on for hours last night. I couldn't seem to get the hang of my lines just yet, but Jonathan promised to help me. It was hard to concentrate when I had Matthew staring a hole through me the entire time. I didn't know why but I had a strange feeling about him. I knew one reason is because he looks at me as if I'm some slab of meat.
After my morning shower I took a towel to my hair. My morning routine was interrupted by someone knocking at my door.
"Just a second!" I called.
I threw on some clothes quickly and ran to answer the door. Opening the door I saw Phillip standing there staring at the ground. His eyes found mine. We stood there staring at each other for a moment.
"Oh, um, Elise! I wanted to uh, ask if you would spendthedaywithme?" He rushed the last bit and I didn't quite catch what he said.
"What?" I giggled. "Sorry I didn't catch that last bit."
"Would you like to spend the day with me?" He asked with nervousness clear in his voice as he blushed heavily.
"Oh, of course! What'd you have in mind?" I asked smiling widely.
He looked at me in shock for a few moments trying to process what I said.
"You'll need your violin!" He couldn't hardly contain the smile that had spread across his lips.
"Gotcha!" I gave a thumbs up and ran back into my room to grab my violin.
(Phillip)
'She agreed to spend the day with me!' I was shocked.
She walked out of her room carrying her violin case.
"Allow me!" I gestured towards the violin.
"Oh, thank you!" She giggled handing me the violin case.
'I adore when she does that!' I smiled.
Taking the violin case from Elise, our fingers brushed against each other's. My heart felt as if it would leap out of my chest. I looked at Elise who was staring at me. She quickly looked away and her face turned the most perfect shade of red. I smiled at that.
We walked to the theatre. I opened the door for her as we entered the empty place. I was grateful for the freedom of not having anyone at the opera house today. I walked Elise up onto the stage. Opening the violin case I took out the violin and got it ready, then handed it to Elise.
"You certainly know you way around instruments!" She marveled.
"Thank you, music is my passion. It's the only way I can truly express myself." I expressed smiling.
"Me too!" She exclaimed smiling back at me.
"So what's the plan?" She asked full of curiosity.
I handed her a stack of sheet music I borrowed from Jonathan's office.
"Sift through that, when you find something you like we'll play it together." I explained watching her carefully.
I went to roll the piano on stage over closer to where Elise is. Watching her sort through the music I noticed her face would scrunch up when she would concentrate. She would set aside certain pieces she liked. One piece must have caught her attention as she began to smile giddily.
