Chapter 13 (Rehearsal Shenanigans)
(Elise)
Jonathan ran ahead of me and opened the door gesturing a hand gracefully towards the kitchen.
"M'lady." He said trying to sound sophisticated as if that wasn't easy enough for him with his British accent.
"Why thank you kind sir." I curtsied and Jonathan laughed.
I walked to the pantry looking for all the things I needed.
"So was that tea or coffee?" I asked behind me from the pantry.
"Oh tea is fine." He replied.
I got the tea bags and put the kettle on the stove. Opening the cabinet I noticed the mugs were too high for me to reach. I jumped up trying to reach them but failed miserably letting out a defeated sigh.
Suddenly I felt two hands on my shoulders that moved me aside gently. Jonathan reached up and grabbed two mugs for us. He carefully handed me the mugs as his fingers brushed against mine. My face grew red. I looked up to see Jonathan staring at me. He quickly looked away and blushed as well. I giggled a bit.
"What?" Jonathan asked with a chuckle.
"Nothing, here you go Jonathan." I smiled handing him the tea.
"Thank you love." He smiled back taking the tea.
We sat down at the kitchen table. Jonathan sipped his tea. I watched expectantly waiting for his reaction to how the tea was.
"So? How is it?" I asked nervously.
"It's lovely darling, so how've you been?" Jonathan asked eyeing me carefully.
"Fine I guess, your sister has certainly kept me occupied." I laughed.
"Yeah she can be a hand full sometimes, but what can I say? Really though love, how have you been." He asked placing a hand on mine.
"I'm better, I still miss them. Renee has been great though. I mean all of you have, you, and your sister. Thank you." My eyes threatened with tears.
"Oh I haven't been that much help." He replied.
"But you have, more than you know." I placed a hand on his.
"Well then, I'm glad." He smiled back then looked at my hand on his.
I realized what I did and retracted my hand and blushed fiercely.
Soon came time for rehearsals that night. I walked into the theatre only to be greeted by Matthew.
'I completely forgot about Tuesday.' I thought.
Matthew walked up to me with a confused look on his face.
"Hey Elise, where were you Tuesday night?" He asked.
'Great, now it's time for what excuse will I use this time to get out of a situation?'
"Yeah I'm so sorry, something came up, I got trapped in a situation with some old friends from high school who came to visit. Totally unplanned." I rambled.
"Oh that's cool, so maybe some other time then?" He asked with a smirk on his face.
"Possibly." I giggled.
Jonathan whistled from up on stage, it rang throughout the entire theatre.
"Hello everyone! I would like to welcome you all to the first official run through rehearsal. We're just going to go over planning, lines, and I will be giving you all the sheet music for this musical and a CD to practice with. The symphony will join us closer to time of opening night. Also I will still be having practices with certain cast members during the week." Jonathan announced, he winked at me with the last sentence.
