Chapter 7 (Crescent Moon)

(Phillip)

Everyone had left the opera house after they'd finished practicing, except for one. Jonathan paced around the lobby talking to himself. I had begun to greatly regret scaring him, 'I'll certainly get an earful from Renee.' I thought and let out a sigh. Jonathan sat on the steps and continued to wait until Renee and Elise got back, suddenly they burst through the doors of the opera house. Arms full of shopping bags they walked over to Jonathan, Elise dropped a bag accidentally and tried to pick it up. Jonathan got to it before she did, that made me feel weird, 'Is this jealousy?' I wondered, but quickly dismissed the thought.

Renee told Elise to go and try on her dresses, most likely so she could talk with Jonathan about my actions. Elise walked off trying not let any bags fall, she went to the old costume room. 'Why on earth did Renee tell her to go there?' I made my way to the secret one way mirror door, I saw Elise in a beautiful dress looking at herself in it. My face grew red, she was so beautiful. Renee interrupted my thoughts as she walked through the door. I couldn't really hear what they were saying; it was muffled.

I could tell something Renee said struck emotions with then both, Elise started crying and she soared off of the pedestal to hug Renee. Elise went into the dressing room, Renee walked up to the mirror and made a cutting motion with her thumb across her neck and pointed at me then sat down on the lounge chair. 'She's mad.' I knew I awaited an interrogation from her, 'She truly scares me.' I admitted to myself.

Elise walked out in a golden floor length dress, my face grew even more red at the sight of her. She curtsied and then walked back to the dressing room, Renee got up and pulled open the mirror door, I got wide eyed in terror and awaited my fate. After Renee was done lecturing me she closed the mirror door.

"What am I going to do?" I whispered to myself.

Elise brought me out of my thoughts as she walked out in a pure white dress that resembled a wedding dress, my jaw dropped at the sight. I quickly left and decided to give Elise a subtle message from yours truly. I went to her room and put her violin case on her bed and put a rose on top of it. 'Perfect!' I thought. I heard the door opening and quickly looked for a place to hide. I finally decided to hide under the bed.

(Elise)

After all the dresses I tried on, I was done! I lugged all the dresses to my massive wardrobe, I let out a sigh as I looked at all the dresses.

"How am I going to fit all these dresses in there?!" I thought out loud, I looked around the room with my eyes landing on my bed. My violin case was sitting there with a rose on it, my eyes grew wide as I walked over to it, I picked up the rose and smelt it.

"I have to find out who keeps doing this." I put the rose on my bed, "Well whoever it is..." I paused for a moment, "I'm flattered, and slightly scared." I admitted.

I took my violin to the theatre and decided to take advantage of the stage and practice, it was dark in the theatre only one spotlight was on in the center of the stage. 'Who left this light on?' I wondered. I took my violin out of the case, tuned it up, rosined the bow. I started to play but stopped suddenly causing my strings to squeal, I heard a chair in one of the opera boxes squeak.

"Elise Aria Daa, get a hold of yourself! It's an old opera house, old places make noises." I told myself.

My eyes scanned the entire theatre, but saw nothing out of place. I started to play again and a familiar song came to my mind, I kept playing and then remembered where I heard it from. It was played at my parents funeral. I was playing with all my might, but stopped right before the end and started to cry. I held my violin tight as I wept and collapsed to my knees.
