Chapter 15 (Heaven's Light)
(Phillip)
I walked back to my room with a hand on my face where Elise kissed me. Blushing wildly I couldn't help the smile the was permanently on my face from that perfect moment.
'Renee was right, she is a wonderful young lady.' I thought.
Walking into my room I stood under the skylights and looked up as the moon illuminated the place. It shined down onto my face and I closed my eyes.
"So many times out there I've watched a happy pair,
Of lovers walking in the night.
They had a kind of glow around them.
It almost looked like heaven's light.
I know I'll never know that warm and loving glow.
Though I can wish with all my might.
No face as hideous as my face, was ever meant for heaven's light.
But suddenly an angel smiled at me,
And kissed my cheek without a trace of fright.
I dare to dream that she, may even care for me,
And as I ring these bells tonight,
My cold dark tower feels so bright.
I swear it must be heaven's light!"
I sang and played as it rang out through the empty attic.
I felt so inspired to write that I immediately sat at the piano and fumbled for some blank sheet music.
Writing like lightning I wrote what I felt for Elise. How she made me feel, and how I felt for her.
"This has to be perfect! Anything less than that isn't good enough for my love!" I spoke as I continued writing.
Wait, wait, wait. My love? Realization of my words hit me like a freight train.
"I love her?" I questioned the absent space.
"I LOVE HER!" I declared with wide eyes then soon clapped a hand over my mouth.
'I really hope nobody heard that.' I thought as I slammed my head against the piano.
I looked over the sheet music carefully as I thought over my feelings. Running fingers through my hair I finally came to terms with my feelings.
"I love her, she's my muse, and I can't stop thinking about her. I've said this before, but this girl with be the death of me." I chuckled to myself.
Looking at my work and crumbling it deciding it wasn't good enough. It joined the rest of the crumpled up pieces on the floor. I let out a huff of air and started another piece.
After hours of what I deemed utter failures I decided to take a break. I walked the opera house and looked at a clock to see it was five o'clock in the morning. Yawning I continued to walk. An idea soon popped into my head.
"I haven't given Elise a rose in a while." I whispered.
Running towards the garden I went out and cut one of the roses off and cut off the thorns. I jogged to Elise's room and stopped at the door.
