"Guyssss...stop! I'm hungry..." And, like she mentioned before both Lainey and Wesley stopped and faced her with those warm identical puppy dog brown eyes they inherited from their mother. Kenzie pouted at them for their tactics, and within seconds both siblings were rummaging through the bags of food to serve her, her favorite meal. Kenzie smiled to herself finding it hilarious that even after all these years she had that effect on them. Or maybe now it was only because she was cursed with the infamous Collins curse and just the thought killed her short-lived happiness. Kenzie was so consumed in her depressing thoughts that she almost missed the conversation between Lainey and Wesley.

"Hey Laine who were you talking to on the phone before I left."

"It was Mi..." Lainey stopped and turned to face Kenzie, her warm brown eyes widened as whatever she was about to say fully settled within her. "OH MY GOD Kenzie! I forgot to tell you who called."

"Who called?" Kenzie furrowed eyebrows as she took another bite of her burger, chewing cautiously as she eyed her sister.

"Miles"

"Mystery Miles?!" Wesley snorted.

Kenzie's eyes widened with shock as turned around to face Lainey. Her heart hammering in her chest as she absorbed each word her sister just said making sure she hadn't misheard her.

"Wha...What?! M..Miles called?! She stammered and couldn't help the shock that laced each word.

"Yeah! He wanted to talk to you but you were asleep."

Miles wanted to talk to her? Why would he want to talk to her now? Weeks after their supposed meet up. Kenzie was overwhelmed as her mind and her heart began a war that couldn't be won. Kenzie wanted to talk Miles, her heart trembled to hear his voice but her mind, oh her annoying mind didn't want her to. Knowing that once her ears took in his sweet, comforting voice again, she would become addicted and wouldn't be able to ever let go.

Little did Miles know that the girl he befriended was more than just a girl. Kenzie was a burden, a girl with a curse so bad that if she held onto Miles any longer she knew she would ruin him alongside with her. Kenzie couldn't drag him in the middle of something so horrific.

"I can't believe he called Kenzie again!" Wesley exclaimed.

"Again? Wha..what do you mean again?!" Kenzie asked with confusion.

"You haven't told her?" Wesley turned around to face Lainey.

"Well I mean with everything that's been going on it didn't cross my mind and she just now got home."

"Wait! Told me what?!" Kenzie yelled looking between her two siblings, the conversation was becoming a little too much to handle.

"Kenzie...Miles hasn't stopped calling or texting you since the day you were admitted to the hospital."

Hearing that did something to Kenzie. It struck a cord, hitting a nerve straight in the middle of her heart, and shattering into a million tiny pieces. Kenzie didn't even try to contact Miles when he didn't show up despite how many times she had pressed his number or typed lengthy messages that she didn't have the courage to send. Kenzie's mind always wondered to the endless reasons why he didn't show up, and it stopped her from contacting him. But, Miles, oh Miles had managed to call her more than once and knowing that made her heart do things. Things it hadn't done in the past few weeks.

"Yeah! The boy literally wouldn't stop calling you every five seconds. It was getting so annoying we had to lock your phone in dad's old safe."
