AN UNEXPECTED HERITAGE

The portal opened and a bright blue light flooded the square causing everyone present to close their eyes for a few seconds.

When they opened them, they found before them several visitors and residents of the city who, with wide smiles, were walking towards their relatives and friends.

Among all the newcomers, a young man looked from one side to the other with a frown on his handsome face. On his shoulder he was carrying a small bag with several stickers of bright colors and that had the shape of the most important monuments that could be seen in the human world.

The Eiffel Tower

The Colisseum

The Chinese wall

Disney World ...

- "Knott!" - Arthit exclaimed as he ran towards the young man whom he had not seen for a year and who, with a smile, left his backpack on the floor to open his arms and surround the body of his younger brother with them.

Behind Arthit, and only a few steps away, were Kongpob and a little girl, that couldn't have more than a few months. The baby, who was half asleep in his arms, was making a pout because of the bright light that was still shining in the area.

- "It's been so long ..." - Knott mumbled as he hugged the young man who, with tears in his eyes, nodded vigorously.

A few minutes later Arthit pulled away from Knott and, taking a few steps back, smiled slightly as he tried to dry the tears that were still running down his cheeks.

- "Mother has been preparing a small party with all our friends for the whole afternoon..." - commented Arthit as he gave him a knowing look - "so be prepared for what awaits you now..."

Knott smiled, thinking of all the people he could not wait to see again but, above all, the dinner that would be ready and waiting for him on the table of the great dining room

Knott smiled, thinking of all the people he could not wait to see again but, above all, the dinner that would be ready and waiting for him on the table of the great dining room.

A dinner that, if he knew Mrs. Rojnapat well, it will have most of his favorite dishes.

I can't wait for them...

- "It was supposed to be a surprise ..." - Kong complained to his husband as he approached them slowly as he was trying  not to wake Mara up.

Arthit, hearing that, puffed out his cheeks as he shrugged.

Knott, however, didn't even hear him as he remained absorbed in the images of meat and vegetable dishes, soups and the innumerable desserts that would be waiting for him at home ...

He had missed it so much!

- "He was going to notice  it anyways.  As soon as we will get to the door of the house" - Arthit whispered as he lowered his head before the angry look of his Kong - "My brother is not stupid..."

"Why me...", thought Arthit while pouting, "Both my mother and Kong should have known it before asking for this..."

A FLASHBACK...

- "There are no secrets between us" - Arthit had reminded them as soon as they had ordered him to take Knott to the place where the party was going to take place without him noticing anything.

- "Tell him whatever you want to..." - his Kongpob had said while letting out an exasperated sigh - "he will believe you ..."

"Really? After all those times?...", thought Arthit as he watched how his mother, sitting at the kitchen table, put her hands in the dough bowl and began to remove everything quickly.

His thoughts must have been easy to see on his face as, a  minute later, Kong sighed and Mrs. Rojnapat, looking up from the bowl, looked at him with such an expression of tiredness that Arthit could not help but nod and walk towards the door while mumbling between his teeth.

All without noticing, of course, the complicit look that her mother and his husband were sharing behind him.

END OF BLASHBACK...

- "Do not worry Kong" - said Knott that, having already left his thoughts about the food, was now laughing openly at the guilty expression of Arthit - "I will look like the most surprised young man of the night".

"I'm sure of that," Arthit thought as he smiled slightly.

- "By the way" - said the young man as he watched Knott pick up his bag and start walking towards the center of the square where, each minute that was passing, new people came from the other side of the portal- "where is that boyfriend of yours?  Is he finally coming with us? "

- "Yes... and Are you finally going to tell us his name?" - Kongpob asked as he looked at Knott curiously - "Don't think we didn't notice that you didn't want to answer that question before..."

Knott smiled and, after taking a look at the portal, told them to wait a moment.

- "He's coming and... as for his name ..."

Arthit and Kong frowned and, like twins, tilted their heads slightly to the same side.

A new flash illuminated the square.

On this occasion only a young man had crossed the portal.

A young man who, with a smile, approached them with agile steps and a small bag as a suitcase.

- "I'm sorry ... Bright did not want to let me go" - Newwie muttered while showing them some colored spheres that he had in his hands - "Not without promising to deliver all the messages he has recorded for his family and friends".

Kongpob began to tremble so much that, quickly, Arthit took Mara from his arms.

A few seconds later Kong had thrown himself at Newwie and hugged him tightly.

- "Brother!"
