Miraculously the drive to the arena had been shorter than I anticipated, which meant we had drove outside the outskirts of the small town in Jersey. We were closer to New York, only an half hour away.
That was the interesting part considering the fact, Zayn usually treated some things way normal than they were; Not many people can say a few of their errands involved a fifteen hundred trip to the Maldives, while he basked in the glory of a radiant sun. Which is why I had been shocked to discover that it was closer to home than I thought, since going to work for him always meant a long plane ride somewhere but I was thankful to be closer.
Even though all of this was only to pay a debt for Brooks, I can tell that he was passionate for the job. It did more than just put food on the table and money into people's bank accounts, I can imagine this was essential for him. Just a way to work out his anger, since therapy would not be a choice. That's why I respected it even though I hated seeing it, any friend getting hurt for the likes of money didn't set right with me.
It had all been for the love of his work, I guess whatever that had meant due to the business part of his career. I never bothered to ask, but it was focused on partnerships. Not all of his money had been illegal, while fighting in the underground and doing things no one can talk about; I had wondered all about his work ethic, interested in the foul play of the money he uses to buy out companies and change their ways.
I eagerly scooted closer towards the window, my eyes scanning the name plastered on a big sign. Most buildings looking Victorian, old but yet very formal as we inched close to the secret arena. We had resided in the comfortable part of Athens, New York, just an even smaller town than the one I used to live in, before taking Erica's office as a smaller bedroom for me.
All of the people stood outside, in the freezing cold as they had anticipated to get inside. I can seen fans bouncing with excitement to get inside of the secret location. I didn't have much experience besides the first time I had went so long ago, the second time isn't really a good choice to mention since I had been through a lot. Not really focused on all of the activities with other people, but from this perspective it was something else.
Zayn's car roared as it sped past all while a few woman cheered loudly, some men even had the nerve to actually boo him. Although it really didn't put a damper on the mood he was in, all of that stuff just went through one ear and left through the other.
Once the car had been parked in the back alley, I got out slower than the rest as I took in my surroundings. I had been living in New York for my entire life, and not once thought about visiting other towns. My eyes scanned all of it before reaching inside one of the bags, just to pull out a camera.
I snapped multiple pictures eagerly of all the buildings near midtown, just as it started to display how it came alive in the night. A smile on my face as I had captured each moment, so I can save the evidence for later and possibly use it for inspiration.
