Chapter Twenty One.
**************

'...Unexpected news and surprises are just that. Unexpected. But right now, all I feel is an immense amount fear for the unknown, yet excitement of what was to come...'

**************

This morning was colder than anything that I had ever faced before. Even with the fact that I'd slept in clothes that covered almost every inch of my body, that Brad and I had slept underneath four layers of blankets, the fact I was cuddled against Brad the whole night and that the fire was roaring from the living room all night, it was still not enough to keep me warm.

Brad and I's bedroom (of course) was the coldest of them all. We were upstairs and the furthest away from the fire, plus Brad closed the bedroom door before we fell asleep so that didn't make things any better. Thankfully, the other rooms seemed to have relieved a little bit of heat throughout the night.

Nevaeh was now at the height of her cold. Her cough was worse and sounded so phlegmy, her nose ran like a faucet meaning we had to have tissues on standby. She was sleeping on and off and didn't have an appetite. I'd contacted my mother over the two-way radio, and she said to do exactly as Calvin had instructed last night.

I spent the morning sat with Nevaeh's head on my lap as she slept on and off, cuddling her disposable camera and Marley, her barbie doll. Marie assisted in getting her to eat and drink, but it wasn't much.

Besides the cold Nevaeh's had contracted, another problem had arisen over night.

It'd snowed whilst we'd been sleeping. And there was a lot of it. It had more than doubled in half the size of yesterday's load.

With Neveah's cold we weren't actually planning on going anywhere, but this limited our movements. The only way out of the house was now through the lower-level windows and even then, we'd just fall right into a mountain of snow and end up in the same position as Nevaeh. My parents bad been snowed in as well. The only way of communicating was now either through the radios or through the windows.

Calvin and my parents discussed the benefits of staying another night for Nevaeh's sake. All of us agreeing that a supply run was needed, at least for more medication for Nevaeh. We'd found adult cough medicine, but in the end, we'd need kids' stuff. The house wasn't exactly accommodating to children, if I had to guess it was once a share house with three teenagers or adults living in it. Considering the amount of dead pot plants and mismatched furniture, they didn't have clearly didn't have kids around often. Especially not with the four rolled blunts Landon had found last night in the nightstand

Fingers crossed today would be yet another relaxing day.

I needed it. I wasn't sure about everyone else but was certainly in pain. My whole body radiated pain and every time I moved, I only felt worse.
