Hriday came out of the washroom and asked him, ‘Saala bhai, kevu laage che? (Bro in law, how are you feeling?) Nervous or Excited?
Shlok smiled and said, ‘Both. Being excited is obvious, but nervous bcz am not sure if I will be able to give Adi all that she deserves. She was already alone and wanted to be in a joint family so that she gets my parents love that she craved for. But now I don’t think it will ever be possible. None of them are even ready to talk to me. Mom I can understand but what is wrong with Pappa. At least he should have understood my feelings. I agree as of now Mom needs him the most, cz me and Di are also not there. But I so wanted to talk to him once. I don’t want anything from him, no monetary support or a stay in their house, but at least they can come and bless us. Jiju, can you please try one last time for me. I am craving to talk to him.
Hriday gave Shlok his cell and said, ‘Take, call him from my cell. At least you can hear him, cz he will surely answer my call’.
Sumi had already gone to sleep in her room and Ketu was watching TV outside when his phone rang.
Ketu: Bolo Hriday beta, how are you?
Shlok got a lump in his throat listening Ketu’s voice. He thought if he spoke, Ketu will disconnect, so he just kept his hand on the receiver as he just wanted to hear his father’s voice.
Ketu again said, ‘Hello, Hriday Kumar, can you hear me?’
Now Shlok couldn’t control himself, he broke down and he said, ‘Pappa, it’s me. Shlok’.
Ketu was ecstatic hearing Shlok’s voice. A lump formed in his throat as well. ‘Finally Pappa ni yaad aavi khari tane’. (Finally u remembered your father)
Shlok: Yaad to ene karay jene aapde bhuli jaiye. Tamne ane Mummy ne har ghadi miss karu chu. Hu pan ane Adi pan. (I haven’t forgotten you to remember. Every single minute I miss you n mom)
Ketu: Then why didn’t you call us beta? Are we so bad?
Shlok: I called so many times, but you never answered my call. And please don’t say that Pappa, it’s all my fault, you haven’t done anything. You are the bestest father in this world. It’s me who spoiled everything. I should have tol the truth about Adi to you both. But what Mom did was also not right. She should have spoken to me first instead of asking Adi to leave everything overnight and go.
Ketu: Where did I go wrong? You lied, Baa supported you and now Sumi is taking all the decisions of keeping you away. Loss to mera hua na.
Shlok: Pappa, where is Mom? Can I talk to her please?
Ketu: She is sleeping. And I don’t think it will be good to talk to her. She is completely shattered Shlok. You know how she is. And after all she is your Mom and will always think about your well being and safety. I don’t think she is completely wrong. Had you and Baa told the truth, I would have supported you and somehow tried to convince her or found a way out talking to Guruji. But you made a mess of it and bcz of you’ll, that poor girl had to suffer and bear the brunt.
Shlok: Now also it’s not late Pappa. Please try and do something. We can postpone the wedding to some other date once you both agree.
Ketu: Have you gone mad Shlok? Just go ahead with it now. I won’t be able to attend it but assure you my blessings are always with you and Adreja. Is she with you? Can I talk to her?
Shlok excitedly jumped and said, ‘You will speak to her Pappa? She will be more than happy. Wait let me check if she is awake’.
Ketu: Hello…hello beta, aaram thi. Only if she is with you right now, else I will call up tomorrow and talk. It’s already late and as far as I know, tomorrow early morning is your haldi ceremony and you need to get up early.
Shlok was surprised to know he was aware about everything.
He said, ‘You must be wondering how I got to know, hum bhi tumhare baap hai beta, tere har pal ki khabar rakhte hain. I speak to Hina and Hriday at least 3-4 times a day for the update. But I can speak only in absence of Sumi cz if she gets to know about it, she has threatened me that she will leave me also and never return.
Shlok: No Pappa, I have hurt her a lot, you please be with her. But just let me know when I can call and talk to you tomorrow. It’s a big day for both of us and we need your blessings. Please please please, either you call up or let me know what time to call.
Ketu: Sure beta, I will try to move out of the house for some time so that I can talk to you both. Sumi was really very upset so i wanted to be with her, hence I am not going to office for few days. And in her presence, I can’t talk.
Shlok: It’s ok Pappa, call as per your convenience but call. Adi will be very happy.
Ketu: Shlok, do you need anything? I can transfer the money in your account instantly.
Shlok: Na Pappa, I just need your blessings, rest all we will manage.
Ketu: Chal beta, before Mogambo comes, I shall keep. Will try to call you tomorrow for sure.
