Next day early morning Adi got up and finished her household chores, including Shlok’s breakfast and their lunch too and went to Sumi.
Bakuben opened the door and was surprised to see Adi so early.
Baa too came out and asked her, ‘Itni jaldi aa gai beta. Abhi to sirf 7 baje hain’.
Adi: Ji Baa, Mummyji ke liye aaye.
Baa: Arre beta Baku bhi to hai sab karne. Tu itni jaldi kyu aa gai. Thoda to aaram karti aaj ke din.
Adi: Koi baat nahi Baa, Bakuben akele kitna karengi.
Meanwhile Ketu came out with Sumi, drawing her on the wheelchair.
Ketu: Good morning Adi beta.
Adi gave a warm smile to both of them and wished them back, ‘Good morning Papa. Good morning Mummyji’.
Sumi too smiled at her lovingly and gestured her to come to towards her.
Adi went close to her and sat by her feet.
Sumi started sobbing, she wanted to say so many things, but was not able to communicate. She felt like embracing Adi in her arms give her all the love she deserved. She cursed herself for ill-treating Adi.
Adi too got emotional seeing her, but she stayed strong and said, ‘Mummyji, you will have to promise me something, only then I will come to you’.
Sumi showed her a left thumb up.
Adi: Good. From now on, I don’t want to see a single drop of tear in your eyes. You promise me that and I promise you that I will do my best and see it to that within 6 months you start walking, talking and cooking my favourite khandvi.
Sumi amidst her tears, nodded her head in affirmation. Ketu moved ahead and gave her a fatherly hug and said, ‘I know I have said this dialogue so many times before and will always keep saying that we are truly blessed to have a daughter like you’.
Adi wanted to cut the topic, so she asked, ‘Ok, breakfast kya banana hai?’
Baa: Wo tu rehne de, Bakudi bana degi. Sab kuch tujhe karne ki jarurat nahi hai.
Bakuben: Maine already Theple ka tayyari karke rakha hai. Jab khana hoga, garam garam bana dungi. Aap wo tension mat lo.
Ketu: Sumi is done with her brush, now what needs to be done?
Adi: Papa, as per doctor’s instructions, I have already got vegetables for Mummyji. I will make some soup for her first after which I will give her fomentation.
She went inside the kitchen with a bag full of vegetables and instructed Bakuben to boil few of them after thoroughly washing them.
Once the soup was ready, she served it to Sumi. She then massaged her left side with warm mustard oil followed by formentation. Sumi felt much releved after that.
She then helped her have bath with Bakuben’s assistance.
Ketu left for work after having breakfast, but he left the driver and his car to take Sumi for physiotherapy.
Adi was waiting at the clinic while the Sumi was getting the therapy done when Shlok called up.
‘Where are you Adi? It’s 9.30. Yoga session not yet over?’
‘Shlok am at the clinic with Mummyji’.
‘Which clinic? What happened to her again?’
‘Relax Shlok, nothing wrong. I have got her for her physiotherapy session’.
‘You went all alone? Where is it?’
‘Papa had left the car and the driver Shlok. Driver uncle hain hamare sath. Humne aapke liye breakfast banaya hai. Hum 10.30 tak aa jayenge’.
‘Ok, let me know when you reach the lobby’.
‘Fine’.
They reached home at 10.40, Shlok was waiting there for them in the lobby. He helped his Mom till home.
Baa insisted him to have breakfast, but he refused saying he already had at home. Sumi remembered Shlok’s promise that he will prove himself only then he will come n stay with them. She knew him very well, she knew he was way too stubborn and make sure he will do what he said.
On the way back, Adi had bought some fruits for Sumi, which she gave her and left with Shlok as he had to go to college. She asked Baa to call her in case of an emergency, else she will be back once Shlok leaves at 12.00.
At home, they discussed about their financial status, cz whatever money she had, she gave it in the hospital apart from some 7000Rs.
Shlok: Adi, this month no tuitions and you are not even taking Yoga classes. Next month how will we manage?
Adi appeased him saying, ‘you please don’t worry about all that Shlok, I will manage. I have few cake orders and also there is an event in Krisha’s school. They have a fun fair too where we can put up a stall like we did here. I have asked Bhabhi to confirm once I speak to you. I will continue with my yoga sessions once I set a proper routine for Mummyji and June onwards tuitions too’.
Shlok: But Adi, these things are taking a toll on your health. Just look at yourself. You look completely drained out Jaan. I had spoken to Avi, once my exams are done, I am taking up a job in his uncle’s firm till the time I get through something big. Have heard we will be having campus recruitment very soon. I am just keeping my fingers crossed. It’s a very big IT company, and if I get through that, then there is no looking back Adi. Just pray for us. Bhagwan waise bhi tumhari sunte hai.
Adi: You and your family are always in my prayers Shlok. And am sure you will definitely get through.
Shlok briefly kissed her on her lips and said, ‘After that you are just resting and doing absolutely nothing Adi. I want to give you all the happiness in the world.
Adi: I am happy Shlok. Mummyji has finally accepted me. I want nothing more than this. You have completed our family.
Shlok: Family to meri tum complete karogi, with bacha party.
Adi: Aapko badi jaldi padi hai.
Shlok: Pagal to nahi ho gai? Not so soon baby. Let me settle completely. Let us explore ourselves, our love, let us strengthen our bond, only after that we will go for kids. Abhi 5 saal tak no bacha wacha…. Anytime you feel like having a kid, you can feed me, bathe me, hit me, love me…aur college to main ja hi raha hoon. Bas thoda badawala bacha hoon. But I can do all that a kid does. Aur waise bhi apna honeymoon is still pending.
Adi: Arre, Goa to gaye the, wo kya tha?
Shlok: Wo mini honeymoon tha, sponsored by someone else. I want to take you around the world. Once a year we will make sure we go for a vacation at least for a week.
Adi: Hmmm…. abhi Birbal ji ki khichdi pak gai ho to hum khana kha lein? Fir aap hume gate tak drop kar dijiye. Have to buy few stuffs for tomorrow’s order.
They both had their food stealing glances. Before leaving, Shlok gave her a long steamy kiss saying, ‘This keeps me sane and fresht he entire day’.
