Adi and Shlok had reached Gandhidham. Though they wanted a simple court marriage, Baa had decided to get them married the traditional way on 1st Nov, i.e. Dev Uthani Ekadashi (Tulsi Vivah). Tulsi Vivah festival is a traditional wedding (vivah) ceremony of the Tulsi plant to Lord Vishnu. It is celebrated on the day of Dev Uthani Ekadashi, also known as Prabodhini Ekadashi of Hindu month Kartik. It is believed that Tulsi is an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi, consort of Lord Vishnu.
Baa called up Ketu and informed him about the wedding. She had tried convincing them by calling them every day, but they did not budge. Shlok too called up umpteenth times, but they never answered his calls. Once he called from Baa's number, but as soon as Sumi heard his voice, she disconnected the call. Later on they even stopped answering Baa's calls. Hina and Hriday too tried to convince them, but they were so heartbroken with what Shlok did, that they didn't want Shlok to be a part of the family if he came with Adi. Adi also tried talking to Sumi few times in absence of Shlok, but she always insulted her.
The wedding preparations were going on in full swing. Baa had booked the Kutch resort as the wedding venue as she didn't want her neighbors to know that Shlok's parents were not in favor of their wedding. Not bcz she thought 'what would people say', but bcz she didn't want anyone to talk bad about Sumi and Ketu.
Adreja and Shlok also agreed to it half-heartedly cz they were not happy with Shlok's parents not attending the wedding.
Adi: Shlok, you sure you want to go ahead with this wedding? I mean, your parents are not in favor of the same, they are not attending. Hina Di too will not be there. Aur ye sab hamari wajah se ho raha hai Shlok.
Shlok: Adi, I also wanted our wedding to happen with my parent's consent, but now we are not left with any option. I don't know why they can't see my happiness lies in you. But you don't worry Jaan, once Guruji clears the misunderstandings, everything will be fine and they will be forced to accept us. And please, I am telling you for one last time, DO NOT blame yourself for any damn thing. We both are incomplete without each other. YOU make me complete Adi.
Baa heard their conversation and she too told them not to worry, 'His parents will soon accept you both. And now it's a testing time for you'll. You both will have to support each other in these tough times. Love, respect, trust and communication, are the most important factors as I had told you earlier and am telling you both now too. Never ever listen to a third person, don't ever let a third person come in between you both and ruin your peace and happiness. If at all you feel that something is not right, speak to each other instead of keeping it in your mind, and clear the misunderstanding then and there'.
They both hugged Baa and thanked her for the immense support that she had extended to them right from the beginning.
Baa wanted the wedding to be a grand event cz it was the last wedding in their family. She had called up Sakshi and had discussed about everything with her. Sakshi, Milind and Krisha were to come 2 days in advance as they did not have many leaves with them.
Shlok's friends were also invited, of which only Avi and 2 others were coming 2 days prior to the wedding.
Baa and Shlok had spoken to Hina and she was still not sure if she should be attending the wedding cz her parents were not happy about the same. She was happy for Shlok and Adi and was convinced when Shlok told her about what Guruji had said. But she was feeling sad for her parents too, cz they too were excited about Shlok's wedding, but now due to these circumstances, she also was in 2 minds. Though her in-laws had liked Adreja, they supported Sumi and Ketu as Sumi had called up Hriday's Mom and spoken to her about Adreja. They too were not in favor of Hriday and Hina attending the wedding.
The days were just passing doing the wedding preparations and shopping from Bhuj itself as they did not have much time to go to Ahmedabad or Vadodara for the same. Most of the expenses were borne by Baa. But Adreja insisted to buy the wedding attire for Shlok herself. She told Baa, 'My parents have done few savings specially for my wedding. And I had told Mummyji as well that I would bear the expenses of the wedding alongwith them'.
She also offered to pay for the resort that Baa had booked for them, but Baa refused saying, 'Abhi to aage chalke tum logo ko bahut zarurat padegi. Sambhalke rakho apne savings. Mujhe chahiye, to main tujhse mang lungi'.
Baa suddenly remembered something and she said, 'Ok, abhi ek bahut important baat, tum logo ko ghumne kahan jana hai?
Shlok: You mean Honeymoon?
Baa: Haan wohi.
Shlok: Tu jaha bhi bhejegi waha.
Before Baa could say anything Adi asked, 'Hum kuch kahen?'
Shlok new exactly what was coming, so he kept mum.
Baa: Bol na beta, teri jahan bhi jane ki ichha ho bol.
Adi: Baa, aapne abhi tak hamare liye jitna bhi kiya wo bahut hai. Aap please hamari baat ka bura mat maniye, but abhi hum kahin bhi jana afford nahi kar sakte jab tak Shlok ki studies complete nahi ho jati. Hum dono ek baar theek se settle ho jaye fir sochenge.
Shlok: Tab tak hum budhhe ho jayenge Adi. Honeymoon is meant to be enjoyed immediately after wedding and not after we grow old.
Adi: Shlok it's just a matter of a year. Let us settle and then we can go.
She looked at Baa and said, 'Baa please, hume galat mat samajhiye, lekin hum dono ko apne pairon pe theek se khade hona hai. Shlok ki college bhi start ho gai hai, wo bhi kafi miss hui hai. Hum bolenge to wo nahi manenge, aap hi inhe samjhaiye please'.
Baa: Dekh beta, tu agar paise kharch honge isiliye bol rahi hai, to uski chinta tu mat kar. Tere Bapuji itna chod gaye hai ki puri zindagi hum teeno aaram se reh sakte hain. Haan lekin agar tum dono ke self respect ki baat aati hai, to main tumhare sath hoon.
Shlok, Adi barabar bol rahi hai. Tera college bahut miss hua hai. Agar ye sab nahi hota, to tum logo ki shaadi, tere studies complete karne ke aur job join karne ke baad hi hoti.
Shlok was not completely convinced with them, but he gave up and went away from there.
Baa: Jaa beta, mere samjhane se wo nahi samjhega, tu use thoda samjha. Usme abhi bhi thoda bachpana hai, wo teri tarah matured thinking nahi rakhta hai. Tujhe usko aage bhi bahut sambhalna padega. Aur mujhe tere pe pura vishwas hai.
Adi went out of the room but did not find Shlok anywhere. Bakuben asked, 'Aap Shlokbhai ko dhundh rai hai?'
Adi nodded.
Baku: Wo upar terrace pe gaya hai.
Adi went upstairs and found Shlok lying on his bed. She went and sat beside him caressing his hair. He stayed as it is and did not respond to her. Adi knew he was upset with her for refusing to go for a honeymoon.
Adi: Aap naraaz hain humse?
Shlok: Nahi, kyu?
Adi: I know you upset cz I refused to accept Baa's offer.
Shlok: When you know it then why are you asking?
Adi: See, I know you so well.
Shlok: And I also knew very well what was coming from you. Yaar shaadi ke baad sab honeymoon pe jate hain, ek hum hi exception hain.
Adi: Hamari shaadi bhi to exceptional tareeke se ho rahi hai Shlok. Had we ever thought we will get married like this?
Shlok: You mean to say that now we will do everything exceptional?
Adi: No Shlok, you are not getting what I am trying to say. Aap hamari baat samajh nahi rahe.
Shlok: Haan nahi samajh raha aur samajhna bhi nahi hai. You think only you understand everything, I am useless.
Adi thought there was no point arguing with him, she got up and said, 'Ok Shlok, aapko jo theek lage aap kijiye'.
He felt bad for getting irritated on her. He held her hand and made her sit beside him again and said, 'Sorry Jaan. I want to give you all the happiness. Now since Baa is getting us married the traditional way, then I thought why not do everything as per the tradition and honeymoon is one of it'.
Adi: I do understand Shlok, but my only concern is, Baa is spending a good amount of money for our wedding. She paid for our ticket too from Pune to Bhuj.
Shlok: Haan to? She has the money so she is spending. Hamare siva uska aur hai kaun?
Adi: That is what I am trying to tell you Shlok, as of now we are the only ones for her. Bcz of us she is not in talking terms with your parents too. She is ageing, she might need money in future for her medical expenses. In fact, you should be stopping her from spending lavishly for our wedding. If she ends up spending all her savings for us, then what about her future? And till the time we start earning properly, we will not be able to help her at all. That time you will feel more helpless than now. And you remember, last time when we were here, you had said that we would spend our 1st night here, gazing the stars? When we have such beautiful place, then why we need to go somewhere and spend lavishly.
After she finished her statement, she realized what she blurted out.
Shlok got a good chance to pull her leg now. 'Wah Adi, you started your lecture like Radhe Maa, and wow, I liked the way you ended up with our suhaag raat. Mujhe to laga tha sirf mujhe jaldi padi hai, lekin yaha to tumhare mann mein bade laddoo foot rahe hain'.
Adi felt so shy, she got up to go, when Shlok pulled her fiercely in a hug and kissed her briefly on her lips.
'Shlok please let me go, koi aa jayega'.
'Haan to aane do. We are already married, certificate mil gaya hai mujhe'.
Shlok hum kabse yaha hain, Baa aur Bakuben kya sochange?
At that very moment Bakuben entered the terrace with her eyes covered with her hands and said, 'Maine kuch nahi dekha, aur main kuch nahi bolungi'.
Shlok instantly released Adi from his grip and Adi ran down.
Shlok: Su thayu Bakuben? (what happened)
Baku: Kai nai Shlokbhai, Baa tamne banne ne bolave che. (Nothing, Baa asked me to call you both)
He too went down with Bakuben. They all had their food and retired to bed.
Next day morning, Shlok told Baa about his mannat to visit the Ashapura temple with Adi.
Baa: Wait for few more days, now after you get married, you will anyhow have to visit the temple with her for Mataji's blessings.
Shlok agreed.
The wedding was a 3days function:
30th October: Sangeet.
31st October: Mehendi.
1st November: Peethi (Haldi Ceremonv) early morning followed by Wedding in the noon.
Since it was a close family affair, Baa had invited everyone personally as there were only few friends of Shlok, some from his college and their common friends from the dance academy. Adreja had only Somu's parents, her class manager, and few of her colony friends to be invited.
They had decided to go to the resort from 30th itself.
Shlok every night used to dream of his 1st night when his Love, his Life, his Zindagi ADI would be in his arms forever.
And now Adi too was equally excited, and used to dream of spending the rest of her life with Shlok.
